I was going to watch that as well, but when I looked into the plot a bit, I got the same feelings. It’s something that would probably frustrate me too much and I doubt I’d be able to enjoy the show, but I hope you can get past it and enjoy it.

It’s one of those that, in and of itself, it’s perfectly fine and not about the Nice Guy trap.  Devoid of RL context, I don’t think I’d have any problem with it!  But it doesn’t go out of its way enough (for me, at least) to put its foot down on the Nice Guy trope that I can’t stop thinking about how waaaay too many people think that way and this anime, cute as it is, kind of reinforces it.  If it’s not something that would register too hard with (general) you, I’d say watch it! But if it’s something that’s liable to occur to you over and over, it’s probably better skipped for something else.

*wistful*  I wish I could just get past it!  But it’s one of those things that I’ve been really sensitive to lately, more than usual, and so I think the timing might just be really off for me.  ):

Yes, the characters themselves, within the context of the show only, are fine with me.  The show does make some effort to show that Takeo isn’t super resentful when he doesn’t receive thanks, that he genuinely supports Yamada’s interest in Suna (so far as he thinks she’s interested in him), but it’s still yet another show that gives the message that dudes can be totally awesome people even if their looks aren’t awesome, that they can get a totally cute girlfriend!  And I never see the reverse of this trope and it gets super frustrating because, eventually, the bigger message becomes about how girls always need to look cute, but boys can run the range of looks, you know?

I have indeed seen and read Kimi no Todoke!  Well, I haven’t caught up in the last year or two, but I tore through all of the anime awhile back and read a lot of the manga.  ♥  It is SUPER CUTE AND I LOVE IT but, while Sawako is socially awkward, she’s very traditionally beautiful and so it doesn’t really reverse the trope for me.  ;__;

Kuragehime is probably the closest thing I’ve seen in manga/anime for this, yes! And it’s a wonderful series!  But Tsukimi is very traditionally cute to my eyes, even before she gets her makeover (which thankfully didn’t last), maybe not super beautiful, but she’s definitely WAY CUTE and so it’s not enough for me personally to balance out something like OreMono + others like it.  ;___; (Bless you for bringing it up, though!  I need to go hunt down the rest of the manga for that one, because I never did finish it.)

“Ahhh” Naruto screamed as he awoke from his nightmare.  

“What’s wrong honey?” Hinata asked Sleepily.

Naruto looked at his loving wife Hinata next to him in bed and heaved a sigh of relief. “It was just a nightmare. Nothing to worry about.” He said as he patted Hinata on the head.

Hi! I was wondering what cw meant! I see it all the time in your tags. Does it mean content warning?

Hey there! I hope you don't mind the public publish, it just occurred to me that other followers might want to know the same exact thing. You're right, it does mean content warning. It's very similar to using "tw" for posts that contain potentially triggering content. 

I've seen a few different posts talking about the most appropriate terms to use re: "trigger warning" vs "content warning." Generally, we want to tag everything possible so that everyone can enjoy our content without worrying about eye strain, bright flashes, and excessive motion as well as triggering content itself. However we didn't want to diminish the severity of the term "trigger" seeing as how triggers are very serious business. The most respectful compromise was to use "cw" to warn for everything in general. It's easy to add to tumblr savior/x-kit blacklist and we can make sure our posts are safe and enjoyable for everyone!
