cattyness replied to your post: What do you think of Mami in that scene where she wants to shoot all of them?
see i never felt bad for mami but thats just me I guess. if you look closely at some of her choices shes pretty selfish and just a bitch. but she wasnt as selfish as sayaka
They're ALL pretty damn selfish when you think about it. I agree, I think Sayaka is the most selfish but even Homura can be pretty selfish, too. It's because they're human.
Kyoko wished for people to listen to her father, but it's implied that a lot of it was born from her being sick of living in poverty and wanting a home and enough food to eat. Homura's wish was to rescue Madoka, but the thing is that she wants to be Madoka's knight in shining armor. SHE wants to be the one to rescue Madoka. And Sayaka's wish was to heal her crush's arm, but, as she later agonizes about, it's more about him being grateful and indebted to her than it is about his arm being healed (This is later subverted in the last episode, when she realizes she just wanted others to be able to hear Kyosuke's music, but I digress).
The only truly selfless person throughout the whole series is Madoka, and that's not until the very end. One of the major points of the series is that there's no such thing as a selfless wish; there's always something in it for the wisher. When Madoka makes a truly selfless wish, she literally loses her sense of self (becoming an omnipresent goddess/manifestation of hope)
Ah, sorry for the word vomit. I just really love this series.
