When I first started studying the teachings of the Buddha and read this, It didn’t make sense. After all we all have choice, right? I knew that our reactions are based on our experiences but what the Buddha taught goes much deeper than that. It has to do with what is outside our awareness, with how we’ve been conditioned and all the different causes and conditions that came together for that anger to arise. So it’s complex and not something we can understand on a conceptual level and this is why meditation is essential, it shifts us out of concept and into connection with the direct experience of what’s happening as it’s happening. We get to see how anger arises, what it feels like in the body, the breath, the heart and mind, and the best part is that we get to investigate it on the cushion where we can’t harm anyone. It truly is a healing and transformative approach to life. #compassion #understanding #vedana #volition #causesandconditions #intentions #meditation #awakening #wbmindfulness https://www.instagram.com/p/BsRg_YBnIpL/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xlync47stt6j
