Coral grows on sea floors completely independent of where humans build roads, thus coral-ation does not necessarily imply causeway-tion.
What you are seeing here is "causation", an event that could not have happened if another event did not proceed it. Before I explain this point of causation, I will say it is not what many of the bleeding hearts will say it is. It is not ICE agents in Minneapolis. It's not Mr. Trump's hard line stance on illegal immigration. That is the low hanging, left leaning fruit of choice. The left and their blue/green haired libertarian friends will say, "Had ICE not been there, Renee Nicole Good would still be alive today." This of course, is explicitly wrong. We'll loop back around to that. The actual point of causation started at the point of allowing mass illegal immigration into the United States. Had the United States government done it's job over say, the last 40 years, to protect the Citizens of the United States from "all enemy's foreign and domestic", Mrs. Good would still be alive today. This is a hard fact for the left to swallow. The hard fact is they are the reason she is dead today. Oh sure the left will blame the ICE agents and Mr. Trump for sending ICE there but the reality of it is; The Left has had decades long policies in place to encourage illegal immigration. Entire democrat presidencies have looked the other way while MILLION of people have poured over our boarders, or overstayed visas and they were allowed to just stay. If the United States did not have an overwhelming illegal immigration problem, fed by liberal policies. If Congress and the courts used and followed the LAWS on the books that make all of the illegal immigration, well, illegal. If law enforcement was allowed to enforce the laws unobstructed but activist states and courts, we would not be in this boat and Mrs. Good would be alive today. Had Mrs. Good, not interjected herself into a situation that did not involve her, had she complied, had she not attempted to hit a law enforcement agent, Mrs. Good, would be alive right now. She did this to herself, her actions and disregard for law and order killed her. She is to blame for her death, by extension blame can be laid on the left, illegal immigration and everyone standing around watching illegal aliens strangle our cities and killing our Citizens and doing nothing about it. Correlation ≠ Causation
[Signal > Noise: Think critically and habitually]
Is it more difficult to conceive that motion may arise from impulse than that it may arise from volition? All we know is our profound ignorance in both cases.
David Hume, An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding

Awareness leads to insight of idappaccayata (things arise and exist due to certain causes, and cease once these causes are removed) and insight of Emptiness (sunyata) which leads to the awakening that dissolves both Self and Not-Self.

When one is concerned with the mysterious and wonderful functioning of the human body, cause and effect are seldom simple and easily demonstrated relationships. They may be widely separated both in space and time.
Rachel Carson, Silent Spring
What Are We Conscious Of?
Start from what consciousness actually has access to. It does not see neural processes, hormonal regulation, or the distributed interactions that produce behavior. It does not see causes unfolding. What it “receives” are already-formed results, for example thought appears, a feeling appears, an intention appears, an action is about to happen. These are effects, outcomes of processes that have already taken place.
Consciousness then does something structurally misleading, it organizes these effects into a story of causation. For example, an urge appears, followed by an action. Consciousness links them and says: “I wanted this, therefore I did it.” But the wanting itself is already an effect of prior processes, and the action is the continuation of those processes. The conscious story inserts a simple cause (“I decided”) where in fact there is a complex chain it cannot access.
This is what Deleuze means by calling consciousness a “locus of illusion.” The illusion is not that experience is fake. The illusion is that consciousness presents itself as the source and knower of causes, when in reality it only has access to results and reconstructs causes afterward. A useful parallel is Baruch Spinoza, who argued that humans believe themselves free because they are aware of their actions but ignorant of the causes that determine them. Deleuze is extending that line, consciousness is structurally positioned at the end of processes, not at their origin.
You can relate this idea to Thomas Metzinger's work. He suggests that the self is like a model created by our brain. This model gives us a feeling of control and ownership over our actions. However, it doesn't show us how this model is made. So, while we might think, "I am doing this," the real processes that lead to our actions remain hidden from us.
So the claim is not mystical. It is architectural. Processes happen and outcomes appear in consciousness. Consciousness constructs a causal narrative that is mistaken for the real cause. This is why introspection feels convincing but is often unreliable as an explanation. You can report what you experience, but not the mechanisms that produced it.
The deeper consequence is uncomfortable. If consciousness only registers effects, then the sense of being the origin of thought and action is itself one more effect among others. The “I” that claims authorship is part of the output, not the source. This does not mean nothing happens or that behavior is random. It means that causation is real, but it is not accessible at the level where consciousness operates.
Consciousness is where results show up. Causes operate elsewhere in the system. The illusion arises when the system mistakes its report of results for knowledge of causes.
