We all have heard the word ‘AUTISM’ these days. The word ‘Autism’ originated from the Greek word “autos” which means “self”. When a person suffers from communication and behavioural disorder. It is also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In around 1940 people started to use the word “Autism” in the U.S.A to indicate kids with social and emotional problems. We still don’t know the reasons behind this disease. In some cases, it is caused by Genes and is called Rett Syndrome or Fragile X. Mutation in the genes can cause a great risk of Autism. It can be a lifelong condition which demands special care. A person who is suffering from Autism has trouble understanding what other people think or feel. They are also not very expressive with their emotion but they can communicate well with art or music.
There is no medical or genetic test that can directly detect it but there are many steps to notice that. The autism symptoms appear between the age of 12 and 24 months in the later phase of their life. Initial Symptoms may include delay in language or social development. The symptoms of Autism are:
Difficulty in managing eye contact.
Sensitive to sound, touch, smell, etc.
The narrow range of interest
Not listening to other people
Talking in a robotic, flat or sing-song voice
Repetitive behaviour and speech pattern
Maintaining relationship
Not understanding facial expressions and gestures
Alternation in routine is very hard for them.
Till now there is no cure for Autism, but there are therapies and other treatments which help people feel better but they can help to reduce their Autism Symptoms. Some causes of Autism are:
Fragile X Syndrome
Older parents
Genetic mutation
Imbalance of metabolism
History of Autism in family
The body has heavy metals
Treatment:
Behavioural Therapy
Speech Therapy
Physical Therapy
High dose of vitamin
Physical Therapy
Kids with Autism need special attention from their parents and people around them. Autism Treatment They may not achieve the same experience as children of their age. They may also lose social development and have language problems too. They may face problems while interacting with other people or someone they dislike. There are many organizations that are there to help kids who are suffering from Autism and parents who have children with the disorder.
An adult who is suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder may experience more problems but their close ones are facing more problems. They may have problems with working independently. But if they are taking therapies and medications from an early stage then they may work more independently. But they are not treated at an early stage that can be due to a lack of awareness of the disorder.
