PROLOGUE ── READY PLAYER TWO!?
Cavalier did not have many dreams that he remembered vividly, and he definitely did not have many dreams that were in a specific style.
Most of his dreams were jumbled up messes that felt like a bunch of dishes and chemicals blended together, a variety of ideas without any true plot, that all intertwined with each other simply because the dream demands so.
The first dream he had that was in a consistent style, and with a coherent plot, was based in the genre of horror. Alongside being horror, it also had a game theme, with game mechanics and what not.
The dream started out relatively normal. He had woken up, and was immediately greeted with a System notice, that had ever so kindly given him instructions about what to do.

Cavalier stared at the screen in front of him, or floating notice? Whatever it was, he stared at it.
Cavalier was not a huge fan of games, it wasn't his thing, so he wasn't sure what led him to dream about anything relating games in the first place.
Just as he was about to speak, he heard a voice call out to him.
"Sir, please exit immediately. Your lunch has been prepared."
"Coming!" Cavalier called out. Cavalier promptly got out of bed and quickly put on clothes that had been lying on a chair nearby. He opened the door and followed the attendant who had been waiting outside with a stern expression.
As Cavalier followed the attendant, he wondered if he had made the right impression on them.
Just as he finished his thought, he and the attendant arrived at the dining room—which was strangely empty.
"You may eat now, sir," the attendant stated, making way for Cavalier to walk in through the doors.
Cavalier stepped into the lavish dining hall, and took a seat at the farthest chair, where his food had been set. "This tastes lovely!" he said loudly as he took a bite. He tried his best not to use any of his slang, such as "totes" and whatnot, as it would give a weird impression.
He wasn't a fan of horror in general. He didn't like the feeling of it, and never understood anyone who did. Maybe that's why Halloween was his least favorite holiday.
As Cavalier ate away at his food, the clock hit 3:00pm exactly, which led Cavalier to think to himself, why am I being called to eat lunch this late? Or wait—is this even lunch? He wondered, his thoughts were promptly interrupted by the attendant.
"Sir, you have to stop eating your food now," they said. Cavalier looked up, his eyes widening.
"Wh—huh? Wait, why?" he asked. Nowhere in the System notice did it state that he had to eat in a certain time period. Or was that a mistake on the System's part?
Before he could ask another question, the attendant grabbed his arms and took him out of the dining hall.
"Sir, I said you need to stop eating," the attendant said firmly as they led him out of the dining hall.
Okay—gee, don't need to be so stern. Cavalier rolled his eyes. He didn't really care if the attendant noticed or not.
Just as the dream was about to get interesting, Cavalier woke up. His eyes opened to the bright sunlight streaming in through his curtains, and he sat up to look around his room.
It had been a disaster from last night, Ludo had come in and demanded for them to throw a pizza party, which Chenya then also came in without anyone noticing and also joined the "pizza party". Cavalier had been too tired to clean it up that night, leaving it for today's problem.
Oh gosh. He thought, this is going to be a nightmare to clean.
So he got to work, put the empty pizza boxes in the trash, cleaned up the crumbs, and also contacted Ludo a couple of times to no avail. Eventually, Cavalier had finished cleaning up the entire mess.
He took a look at his clock, which displayed it was 8:30am. At that moment, he realised that he had school, so he set off.
Currently, he was eating away in their cafeteria while Ludo was blabbering about something.
"And you know what he did then?" Ludo asked.
"No. Sorry Tart, I totes wasn't paying attention!" Cavalier responded. Ludo let out a sigh, he'd never seen Cavalier so... unfocused before.
"Dude, what's gotten into you? You've never ignored me, like...ever I think?" Ludo said. Cavalier sighed, and decided it would be in his best interest to tell Ludo his dream last night.
"'Kay, so I had this weird dream where I was in a horror game—"
"But you don't like horror games. Or games. Or horror!"
"I know, and basically, there were all of these totes weird rules that I had to follow... but before anything bad happened, I woke up and was greeted with your mess." he stated. Ludo sat there, blinking.
"Uh...what a weird dream, haha... yo I gotta go." Suddenly, Ludo sprung up and ran out of the cafeteria, earning a couple of yells and "hey! watch it!".
In truth, Cavalier wondered what would his weirdest dream be? It would probably have something to do with Night Raven College... well, that was a thought for another time. He needed to get to class!
