Last year we lost a beautiful soul in @cavistapes. Cavis Tapes // I recently found out about Chris Cavis on the 100 Words Or Less podcast with Ray Harkin and the dude from Shelter, John Porcell. Someone mentioned Cavis Tapes and their involvement with it, and voila! a whole new world of glorious HXC footage was unveiled. The Cavis Tapes channel on both YouTube and Vinmeo is loaded with great content from Sound & Fury and dozens of shows from the underground community. Gutted to uncover that the founder Chris Cavis passed away last month, in a car crash, on the way to film the band I'm Glad It's You. A band I never heard of before but now feel expected to check out. Unfortunate circumstances to uncover all of this, but at least the beauty of their footage and sound stands behind. Thank you for your work and your commitment to the community. Check out your favorite band on one of the channels and celebrate his work. Today was tough. Trying to hold back my tears stopped working when I saw the old crew sobbing too. If there's one thing I can do to honor you, it's to give all of myself in whatever I'm doing. We all knew that's the kind of guy you were and we can only strive to be as dedicated in our own endeavors. Record in Paradise, Chris. The news I received yesterday shook my world as I'm sure it did everyone else that got those calls. The nicest person anyone could ever meet was taken away from us. I've been in a haze ever since. It makes no sense. I just saw him the night before and he gave up his seat to me and went on got his coach's chair to use. Selfless. Always. Every now and then I'd get a text full of some shit talk about the Clippers or some random reference to wrestling that never failed to surprise me coming from Chris. I'm going to miss him telling me that I'm a bad person. If you have the means to, or have the chance to at least share, please donate to the memorial fund that was started in Chris' name to go to the Bakersfield High School Athletic Department (link in bio). Chris loved coaching and always had stories about his players. Please donate if you can to keep Coach's memory around for many years to come. #coach #cavistapes
