My Favorite Music of 2018
Hey all, and Happy New Year! I’ve tossed together another Spotify playlist of my favorite songs from this year. It was actually really difficult to narrow this down to 50, so it must have a been a good year for music! These are not ranked, FYI, just ordered for an optimal listening experience. -Aaron

CAYUCAS - HIGH SCHOOL LOVER
CAYUCAS : JESSICA WJ
Not everyone knows that I have a decent number of fixations, such as dinosaurs, lemons, launderette, bees, Polly Pocket, acorn's caps, maracas, abyss fishes, vehicles with trailer/vans (before getting my driving license I wanted to drive a Fiat Doblò, and I still want to) and camper vans obviously. So, a couple of days ago, I slammed on the brakes in the middle of a crossing, because I saw a Puma 600. Also, here’s Cayucas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dwzp8Mj0Iz8
We absolutely adore Cayucas, the Santa Monica band who gave us one of our favorite albums of 2015 in Dancing At The Blue Lagoon, so we’re rather sad that we had to miss out on their show in Berkeley last night. But our spirits our lifted now that the pair have followed up on their sun-kissed guitar pop single Jessica WJ with a new one named Winter Of ‘98, accompanied by a nostalgic 90s inspired music video. The track, like Jessica WJ, is lifted from Cayucas’ next album Real Life. Cayucas brings us a fresh injection of their surfy guitar pop and effulgent wagging indie rock on the song. According to lead singer Zach Yudin, “’Winter of ’98’ was inspired by the feelings of the late nineties, moments, images, places, and faces. It was cold. And things were new. A last chance to say something to someone you may never see again.” New album Real Life is scheduled for release in February on Park The Van Records. Hopefully they’ll share pre-order links soon for Real Life, because I need to lock in my copy, stat! For now, you can keep up with Cayucas via their website, here.
