It's so much fun checking up on tags for fandoms that hardly exist just to see if one more post has been added in the six months I've not checked.
chelsea dagger by the fratellis pls !
So cassette manufacture in the west fell off HARD right around y2k. Labels began opting to release new music to the North American and European markets on CD exclusively in the new millennium in the face of dwindling demand for the magnetic tape format.
However, in a few parts of the would - especially Indonesia - demand for cassettes continued for almost a decade beyond that, because tapes remained the majority format there. So those same (western) labels recognized their market and continued to release cassettes (of western music) in Southeast Asia!
Some tape collectors claim that these tapes are lower-quality in terms of both physical materials and sound engineering. They miiight be right about indie releases; but BASF, a major magnetic tape producer, operated a plant in Indonesia that manufactured high-quality, humidity resistant tape for legitimate duplicators. So the assertion that Indonesian tapes are "bad" is typically incorrect. (Also, as an aside, I'm perplexed by people who get snobby about cassettes... like bro, this is the dive bar of music collecting. you're really gonna sit there and critique the tasting notes of your $2 Miller Lite?) But even if the tapes were low-quality, I adore physical media. There are a few "holy grails" I'd want in my collection even if they were literally unplayable.
And some of those holy grails came out between 2000-2009.
ANYWAY, now that I've shared a little background, a little brown package arrived at my house in the mail yesterday, alllllll the way from Indonesia!!
Absolutely thrilled to add these to my collection!
Chelsea Showdown (Chelsea Off) - Round 1
Who is the better Chelsea?
Chehlsee - Realm DnD
Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis
HI TETSURO,
WHO ARE YOU?
✰ .ᐟ constantly wearing black, grey or navy and nursing a beer, or some sort of bitter alcoholic beverage. cider is his pick of poison!
✰ .ᐟ can’t express his emotions: struggles to say it out loud, on a page, even in his head. bottles up things he didn’t even know were there to begin with.
✰ .ᐟ lives for mac miller, embarrassingly so, but dabbles in 90s and 00s bands: panchiko, the fratellis, the smashing pumpkins. any song that suits yearning capabilities = he’ll die for it.
✰ .ᐟ lives for the bleak stores you find on random sundays in the rain. owns suit pants and blazers for no reason except they’re dark and brooding. not a singular pair of light wash jeans in his closet either.
✰ .ᐟ his brother always used to say, “let it rip.”
↳ ✰ .ᐟ tetsuro desperately wants to do that for him, but he knows he can’t, AND SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE.
NOW YOU KNOW TETSURO!
↠ WNA GTK YN?
