Always! So, in my homebrew campaign adapted my own "creation" lore to this fairy tale world. The Ancients created this world, and others, but that was so long ago it's debated if they even existed by some.
They were huge dragons, and at the current time there are no dragons left and no one believes in any Gods really because no one has helped. I won't get into that now; let's get back to the dragons!
Tik-Tok (Or, Tick-Tock I learnt recently as the English translation), is an Ancient. They are the God of Time and Space. In my original work they have no realm, simply living in the space between the realms of the Gods, but in my homebrew Tik Tok is the creator of "Underland", also called "Wonderland" by some.
This is a realm with wonderous magic. People in the mortal realm come here after a traumatic death, but there are also people who live here, have jobs, families, and it has a history of royalty.
Tik Tok is known throughout this realm; at night, you can see them move up there when their form block out the stars for a short moment. There are no places of worship for this Ancient though, or any other Deity.
Images of Deities do wander this realm as well. We have a giant stag as the mirror image of Jorn, but they are purple with mushrooms growing on them, as one example. You will see many like this in Underland.
Jorn themselves is an Ancient one. They were the God of Nature Life. They consider all mortal beings their children as they come from nature. They are symbolized by all animals found in nature.
Jorn had four "children" symbolized in Misthaven by the four seasons they experience. The oldest one, Ysera, is the only one who is a green dragon and believed to be most like her "father".
Ysera is seen as the creator of the fae and lived at the heart of Moors where she guarded the portal to "Neverland", which is the feywild in this world. She is the only one who inherited Jorn's stag horns.
Ysera had one child herself: Maleficent. Maleficent has no father, like her mother, and thus is the only descendant of dragons in this family tree. Her form is that of a black dragon with green scales, and her flames are both green and purple.
In her fae form she looks like Maleficent from the LA film, but she has no wings in this form. She sees both of these forms as her true self.
Lili, her daughter, is also created without a father. She inherits the stag horns from Jorn as well, but when she grows up the tension between the humans and fae grow rapidly until the massacre of the fae and her death.
We never see her dragon form. One may speculate she'd resemble her great-grandfather more than her mother because of her horns though...
Now that I can talk about it here without massive spoilers for that one player:
Lili is Maleficent's daughter. They are descendants of Jorn, the nature life creator. While Jorn had other "children" who in turn had children of their own, neither Maleficent nor Lili were conceived by two parents but simply bloomed into existence.
This makes them the most powerful of all descendants of this Ancient One. It did not help when tragedy struck though, which I will share after this Sunday's session.
In CC, Lili has an illness, a rot, that is trying to kill her. She is chronically ill. She also has a piece of Jorn in her. Both herself and this fragment are fighting the rot, but while they can hold it at bay (with help), they can't defeat it.
The party doesn't know how to help yet, so I won't share it, but there is more than one option.
Lili has this rot, Jorn, and herself fighting over her body. One might think that curing the rot cures her, but what happens with the fragment of Jorn when there's nothing holding it back from taking over?
The simplest option may be to free Jorn, but at the cost of Lili herself.
It's a day with the possibility of answering asks! If your character was to come into guardianship of a child by accidental or otherwise means, how would they deal with it?
Heya Sleepy! Indeed it is a day with possibilities. Sunday is D&D day so that's where my head is at, and I'll share my answer for my current obsession, Diaval and Lili:
Diaval has never been around human children. The curse wiped out all life in two Kingdoms, and it's been fighting to spread ever since. He hatched after the curse and is the only one who survived to adulthood.
If he came across a child, whatever species, and for the sake of answering he'd manage to get it to the castle safely, he'd care for it gently as if it was a fragile thing.
Which, life is to be fair. He's never been a human(oid) child himself, so he's probably missing a lot, but he's a good guardian who also loves having fun with this child.
Lili wouldn't do much with her mental state the way it is. She'd hope that Diaval can care for this child instead of her when she is no longer here, hoping it gives him a new mission, and she'd make flower bracelets for both of them.
