I hate to say I told you so (to myself) but using CC Magic does in fact allow me to have more CC and not make my game crash more as opposed to just merging files with S3PE 😭😭 I’m glad I finally got past it’s intimidating layout and sitting through a tutorial to understand it!

Finally managed to make CC Magic work for foreign langage !!!

So if you don’t know when you don’t have an english game, your folder under “My Documents\Electronic Arts” might not be called “The Sims 3″. For example, in french it’s called “Les Sims 3″. This might sound like not a big deal, however if you want to use CC Magic to its fullest it is actually a problem. @gruesim provided us with a solution that used to be working (or it might still be working for you hopefully! however it didn’t work for me)

How to link your “foreign langage sims 3 folder” and “The Sims 3″ folder created by CC Magic

Firstly, you will need to move out the folder created by CC Magic out of “My Documents\Electronic Arts”. You can simply move it to your desktop, it doesn’t really matter. I haven’t deleted mine because I already made some sets/collections in CC Magic and I didn’t want to redo it.

Then, you will need to open the Command Console as administrator (just search for CMD in the search bar and then right click -> Open as administrator”).

You will now paste THIS command :

mklink /J "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3" "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Electronic Arts\Les Sims 3"

Replace USERNAME with your computer’s name and the last “Les Sims 3″ with how you ORIGINAL Sims 3 folder is called. Mine is called “Les Sims 3″ because my game is in french but if your game is in ducth for example it might be called “Die Sims 3″. Then press enter, and you will now see that in your “Electronic Arts” folder, the “The Sims 3″ folder now has the shortcun icon :

(My original “Les Sims 3″ folder also has a shortcun icon but it’s because I changed it, I don’t think yours should have the shortcun icon)

It is because you created what is called a “Symbolic link”. It means your original Sims 3 folder and the “The Sims 3″ folder created by CC Magic are kind of the same folder. Like they share the exact same content without being duplicated.

You can now use CC Magic as you like !!

If you have other issues with CC Magic you should consult @sims3tutorialhub​ blog, they have tons of tutorials for Sims 3 !! <3 (couldn’t have made this work without them hehe)

I’m setting up CC Magic (again, yes, don’t ask) and have run into an...issue. I have all my mods organized into neat little folders in my Packages and I know you can do this in CC Magic too. It doesn’t keep the folders when importing everything so I’ve started with uploading one folder. Except I cannot move more than one item at a time. As someone who is a bit of a CC hoarder (I’m trying to be better, hence redoing everything) it’s going to take me years to move things one by one into their appropriate folders. Is there a way to move more than one item at a time in CC Magic that I am somehow overlooking?

Good morning hope you're having a great day today, I have a question I hope you can help me with I just download S3PE to merge my sims 3 cc because i play back and forth between the sims 3 and the sims 4 however, when I downloaded it, it changed my regular. Package files to sims3package file (not the sims3packs you put in the launcher). SO, me being nervous about this I uninstalled this now I thought it would go back to normal, but it didn't, and I can't play sims3 or 4. Can you help me Please?

There was no need to be nervous about S3PE changing your regular package files to "Sims3 package" files. It's just the file association that any program does when installed, so Windows knows which files can be opened by each program. If it were me though, I would use CC Magic to merge your package files because doing it through S3PE is more hard work and maintenance, especially if you keep changing or adding to your CC collection.

Do your Sims 3 package files still have the .package file extension that looks like the following examples? This is how my package files appear with S3PE installed.

If you can't see the file extensions at all, turn them on by clicking View in the menu bar of the Windows Explorer window, then check the box called File name extensions.

If they don't look like the above, I think the easiest thing to do would be to reinstall S3PE and see if that corrects them. If it does, you can go ahead and use S3PE as you originally intended or go the CC Magic route I suggested above.

If that doesn't correct your package files appearance, let me know exactly what state they are in at this point, perhaps with a picture so I can see all the details.

I'm afraid I can't help with Sims 4 as I've never played that game and know nothing about it, sorry. :-)

I finally fucked around and followed some cc magic tutorials so i could get cc to finally show up in my game and oh my god its a whole diffrent game nowwww

Could you please tell me how to move CC Magic with all its installed CC to a new computer? I know how to move the game files but not CC magic. I’ve found it’s folder in program files but can’t work out where the actual Cc merged package is let alone how to make sure it is transferred without messing up my game.

Hi! Sure we can :)

It is pretty simple, you do just move the Documents/EA folder over to a new PC, that has your The Sims 3 folder (with the merged CC in Mods/Cache/Sets) and the CC Magic folder (with the settings and single unmerged packages).

I recommend installing both the game and CC Magic properly before moving everything over :)

How I organize my build/buy CC using CC magic

I don’t know if everyone is aware of this - it took me some time to discover, so here’s a quick tutorial on CC Magic Collections that is very helpful to set all that random clutter CC into nice folders:

Step 1: Open CC Magic. Go to the ‘Collections’ folder, click ‘Add’ at the bottom. You’ll create a <New Collection>.

Step 2: Rename it and pick an icon (or don’t). Repeat this process for as much collections as you want.

Step 3: CLOSE CC MAGIC. Then reopen it. I don't know why, it doesn't work for me otherwise.

Step 4: Pick a set (may be the default one or whichever you like). Click on the drop-down menu on the right and select your collections - they will include all the items on that set. Rebuild and load your game.

Step 5: Open the Collections tab on Build/Buy menu and find your CC Magic-generated collections. Rejoice at how easy is to find all that kitchen or bathroom clutter now.
