@whump-tr0pes and @i-eat-worlds both asked, so I had to oblige! This was interesting!

Rules: How many letters of the alphabet have you used for a fic title? One fic per line, 'A' and 'The' do not count for 'a' and 't'. Post your score out of 26 at the end, along with your total fic count.

Since I tend to have all things just be *series name* #(whatever), this was surprisingly difficult! A lot of the things that have proper "names" are the ones that I named after whatever prompt I used for them, whether that be something like a whump event or a BTHB entry.

While the blunt comment was enough to calm him down they needed a way out before she came back from 'playing' with V.

She said it herself she didn't want scraps but that could mean anything from letting them go to killing them quick without doing anything.

Then there was Andre. The one that got away. The reason she'd had to flee her theater.

He wasn't a scrap...

Corva took one more deep breath in before sitting up. Immediately, the room started to swim and twist before her eyes as vertigo took hold. She slowly let out the breath and waited for the worst to subside.

This... Angel, this killer, changed her plans. She no longer had time to fully stabilize herself before getting the brothers free. With the threat of the Angel coming back at any moment, she needed to get them out now.

Erebus help me, because I am about to do something very stupid.

She gathered up every shred of magic she had at her disposal, and hoped it would be enough.

First things first: get out of the restraints.

V had used cuffs on her, rather than a collar. Amateur.

With half-numb fingers, Corva grabbed her left thumb and dislocated it. The cuff was still a tight fit, but the blood from her injuries helped her slip it off.

She spoke to Andre as she began the process of removing the second cuff. "You are going to have to inform the authorities of what happened. Atlas is in shock, and once we get out, I won't be in any state to give information. You need to tell them about Astra and V, and the injuries the two have. Tell them that Astra is most likely at the hospital, and V is being pursued by the Angel."

Both cuffs were off. Corva slowly rose to her feet, using the wall to keep her balance. She kept her footing through sheer stubbornness as she approached Andre.

"Tell me where the hospital is," she ordered.

Aloka was quiet for a while before sighing,

"Sorry...for nearly getting us in more trouble..." she mumbled under her breath

Corva sighed. As much as she hated the added complications Aloka's actions brought, she did understand it. After all, there was little she wouldn't do for her own loved ones.

I would be smarter about it, came a nasty voice in the back of her head. She did her best to ignore that.

"It's... I'm not going to say it's fine, because it isn't," Corva said. "But I do understand it. Let's just... let's get back to your home and we can talk about what all I learned."

A million thoughts were going through Andre's head, he went to say something a few times ultimately deciding against.

She had to be furious, she told him not to come and of course he lost control he knew his magic wasn't stable what was he thinking even attempting that?!

Andre was panicking, and it was distracting. The situation was hard enough without adding his sour reek of panic to it.

"Andre," Corva said. Her voice came out weak but clear. "Get a towel, cloth, bandages. Something to put pressure on the wound. I'll be alright, but I'm going to need some help."

Admitting that still felt like admitting weakness, but Andre might panic less if he had something to focus on.

Since this was going to take a while, their mom started to make some tea while Andre went to get the box of snacks he kept in his room.

Or at least that's what he said he would do, but at the worst of times he could be as stubborn as his sister and as unable-to-think-ahead as his brother. . .

So against everyone's wishes and despite already hearing the lecture he would get not only from his mom but from Corva he snuck out the window and made his way to the theater hoping he was wrong about who they were up against.

Corva circled the building before she entered. It looked abandoned from the outside, but that was no guarantee of what the inside was like. She made sure to take note of all the entrances and exits, then ducked inside.

Inside it... also looked abandoned. If anyone was living here, they hadn't bothered to clean up.

She pressed herself into a quiet corner and closed her eyes, focusing on her senses. She stretched them out, searching for any hint of someone else here.

It took less time than she imagined, because someone made an entrance. Significantly less stealthily than she did, she might add.

Stars and shadows, what's Andre doing here?! If it weren't the literal opposite of my job, I would EVISCERATE the idiot for this!

She grabbed him and pulled him into a shadowy hiding spot, clapping a hand over his mouth so he wouldn't give them both away.

"And just what do you think you're doing?!" she hissed. "We agreed that you would stay home!"

"Oh, uh sorry ma'am. Some of 'em have been fallowing me and my......family for a while. Just excited to talk again is all...."

The pause before he said "family" was definitely suspect, though Corva wasn't sure quite what to make of it.

It's fine; he can have his secrets, she reminded herself. Not everyone is hiding things to do with you, you paranoid witch. It's fine.

"That's fine," she said out loud. "You just looked in pain, is all."

She put her own hand on top of Corva's with a tired smile. "Thank you dear, for everything. I am eternity grateful for what you've done for this family."

Corva had no idea how to respond to that. It wasn't as if she had done this for altruistic reasons; this was her job.

And the sincere thankfulness Mrs. Leer was giving off didn't help Corva's ability to respond, either. Direct skin contact made her empathic abilities exponentially stronger, and the woman was radiating thankfulness in equal measures as her fear and guilt.

Well, that was something Corva could help with. She gently pulled on Mrs. Leer's negative emotions, siphoning off just the slightest bit. It wouldn't be a monumental change, but it would take the edge off the woman's troubles.

And Corva's hunger.

"You don't need to thank me, Mrs. Leer," Corva said quietly. "This is my job, and I'm glad to help."
