Reflection:
This assignment was a challenge for me. Creating dialogue is certainly not my strong point. Sometimes cheese does work, but there is a fine line between being effective and turning your audience off. Much like the “Hint Fiction” assignment in month one, I found that revealing the character of my protagonist within 30 seconds was difficult. These exercises are essential for my growth as a writer. I value how it forces me to reevaluate the way that I write adopting the “less is more philosophy.” I am starting to find that character development is much stronger when the audience has more freedom of interpretation leading to a universal appeal. As an educator, I can help to guide my students in adopting the same philosophy when writing scripts for their various presentations. I have a thick skin with the desire to learn and grow always. I welcome the honest opinions from my teammates. . I am extremely excited to start shooting this and bringing the scene to life in week four. Good luck to everyone and I look forward to sharing this experience with you all.
Be Inspired, Trish Persen
