CCP Games

CCP Games is a company that’s involved in the video game industry. To be precise, they are a video game developer company located in Reykjavik, Iceland. The company’s history goes back to 1997 when it was founded by Ivan Kristjansson, Beck Kristjonsson and Reynir Haroarson. They established the company with the goal to make MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games). In order to develop their first game they needed money. Since they were lacking funds, they first created and published a board game called Danger Game. The board game proved to be a success and sold over 10,000 issues. According to some reports, the company with their CEO, Sigurour Arnljotsson, raised the budget up to $2.6 million in April 2000. They managed to increase the budget this much by completing an offer from the Kaupthing Bank, which was located in Reykjavik, and through private investors.

Moreover, the General Catalyst and the Novator Partners earlier collectively owned bigger stake in the company. In addition, CCP Games was officially bought in September 2018 by a video game publisher located in South Korea, Pearl Abyss.

Eve Online

The company is best known for creating one of the most played MMORPGs ever. The game we are talking about is Eve Online. Eve Online is completely developed by CPC Games. The game was officially published on May 6, 2003 also by CPC Games. For those who don’t know, Eve Online is a space-oriented, persistent world MMORPG where players can play a part in many in-game activities and professions such as trading, manufacturing, piracy, exploration, mining and fight. When players fight they can either fight player against player or player against environment. Moreover, Eve Online has 7,800 star systems that can be visited by players.

Each player begins his game by selecting an earlier created character or sometimes he/she creates a new character. In addition, the in-game accounts allow players to have 3 different characters. When a player creates a new character, they begin by choosing one of the 4 races that are given in the game. The Eve Online main mode in the game is flying around space ships. Each player can dock in the stations which are used as safe-houses.
