i want to know more about michael. i want to inspect him under a microscope.

summary: he's The Archangel Michael from The Bible, he sent luce to hell and then tried to have a rematch at what would later be known as saint michael's church. he lost because he underestimated luce's devils and ended up stuck in the Nightmare Sand Pit. he was set free by the blood magic isaac did, and he finally got to settle the score with luce while joshua escaped. he's since settled on earth to keep an eye on things and learn more about cairyx's kind.

some assorted fun facts:

he has an amber incense smell, though its much less noticeable in his human form.

the fires that make up his angel form aren't actually that hot, feeling more like the warmth of an open oven that a direct fire

he has a very weird accent that sounds like a little bit of everywhere. he also speaks in a stilted way, kind of like a subtler version of half-life's g-man

his angel form is 10ft tall (just like luce!) while his human form is 6'4

one of his favorite things he's gotten to do while on earth is feed the nearby pigeons n ducks

Luce : How about you shut up for another century

he says that in the hopes it will fluster luce, only for luce to completely shut him down and leave him stuck there until one anxious boy with a knife gets him out T_T

so......... what does archangel micheal do?

yeeted luce into hell after the whole garden of eden thing, tried to fight luce again after he started making devils but was outnumbered and trapped in the Nightmare Sand Pit from 1833-2009, then after isaac did the blood magic in the church he came thru with the steel chair while joshua was escaping and destroyed the Nightmare Sand Pit in the ensuing smackdown.

also mike from the irs is going to make his official debut pretty soon! 🎉

Between Mike and Rebecca, while I don't really see full-blown romantic chemistry, especially since Rebecca is probably much more focused on helping Delilah and on her job, and Heavens knows Mike is as oblivious as a brick, but I think it'd be cute if they grew to have a "more than friends, less than lovers" kind of dynamic (queerplatonic probably wouldn't describe it well, since Becca appears to be straight and Mike's orientation is probably like, fireball or something lmao)

honestly i dont think i ever considered what rebecca's sexuality is, since i dont think its ever gonna come up due to delilah already being a side character n her being even more minor to the plot. and mike falls in the same category as luce and cairyx for me where like. trying to put a label on him feels like trying to identify the sexuality of a siphonophore lol

and sexuality speculation aside, there's also the whole coworkers thing. the so vast as to be beyond quantifiable age gap. the blasphemy (maybe?) (tried doing research for an unrelated project abt whether angels could "know" humans in the biblical sense) (got a lot of mixed messages)

on another tangential not tho. could u imagine the fuckin vent sessions delilah would have w/ sam if a guy she suspects is Some Kind of Entity became her stepdad gfdhkshdkjfsh

1- What animal do you think would make the best fit for Isaac's spiritual animal/companion? 2- Despite Mike giving off "well-meaming but clueless grandpa" vibes, I think Izzy would get along with him if given enough time 3- I also like the headcanon that Izzy is partially Brazilian, though maybe that's just the bias of being Portuguese (and even then I'm not saying if I'm from mainland Portugal or the islands), but my personal assumption is that Isaac is half Brazilian on his mom's side and half Panameño (Panama) on his dad's side 3.5- I say Panama rather than the Dominican Republic, Chile, Mexico or others because I think it'd be a funny test for Izzy, since El Dia de los Muertos in Panama is celebrated much differently than in other countries who include it as a holiday, because instead of it being festive, it's a solemn "Dry Day" of remembrance, so no alcohol is allowed in respect for dead ancestors

4- Do you think Izzy would support Leah and Cassie if the Vibes™ turned out to be canon/semi-canon?

i've always associated him w/ honey badgers! mostly bc of the way honey badgers are known for punching above their weight and standing up to/surviving attacks from far bigger & stronger animals. like despite isaac's anxiety issues, this is still a guy who survived Thee Devil jumping him, and then proceeded to defeat Thee Devil

isaac gets along with most people by default, so i can definitely see that! i also think mike might be slightly less standoffish w/ isaac since he knows isaac played a key part in how he got out of the Nightmare Sand Pit

thats the second time someone's headcanon'd him as brazilian lol which is kinda fascinating since i didn't really have a particular place of familial origin in mind when i was designing him? i wonder what it is abt him that seems to have stumbled upon strong brazilian vibes

interestingly enough the dominican republic was another option i considered before deciding to keep his birth family's origin vague (and like i said in the tags of that other hc ask, don't take that as canon lol)

absolutely! i think by the time they could possibly get together (i'm thinking of having PYHA's sequel happen in 2014) isaac no longer gets that envy abt other's romantic successes like he had towards joshline. which isn't entirely positive character growth, since it stems from him assuming he'll never have the kind of long-term friends with benefits relationship he actually wants and instead settling for one night stands ;_;

well the first thing that comes to mind for me is like. him just being from christian mythology at all could put some people off, especially since he's generally portrayed in a positive light in the story. also him going to work for the US government as well lol

well he was certainly wrong about how his fight with luce's devils was going to go, since he wasn't really planning on getting trapped in a pocket dimension torture chamber for decades lmao

plus, from my perspective, his priorities while working for the BSA are a bit skewed. he's mainly focused on making sure luce and the other Goetics stay in hell, but i think he should be much more worried abt the spider aliens 👀
