zoro is stuck

between trying to kill ace during arabasta or himself because ace is so much more confident and charming and self assured and his flirting on sanji is WORKING

and zoro was ready to take his feelings to the grave (oops thriller bark happened tho lawl) since sanji doesn't seem keen on even spitting in his direction at that point

During the Paradise at Sea arc Aoba gets called "occhan" (or maybe uncle) by Naruto quite a bit, it also doesn't escape his notice between the others' snickers that Tae gets the "nii-chan" treatment instead and points that out one night.

Naruto's nonchalant response is another jab to the heart, that being Aoba's age and the fact that he considers it "old", Tae does a little peace sign in the background.

He also mentions since Tae is Jiraiya's son, referring to him like an older brother just makes sense. Whether Naruto means to say it like that or not, the air in the room gets a little lighter at the underlying implication. Not even Aoba can stay mad after that, not that he was that upset to begin with.

The look in Tae's eyes soften, he ruffles Naruto's hair as the little fox kit complains.

i love them all so god damn much <333 extra notes and rambles under the cut for kakashi and law highlighting some differences as well as my journey with them!

well i tried to keep it brief but this ended up getting cluttered pretty quickly lmao, i can only hope it's legible for anyone who takes the time out of their day to read this

i already mentioned it but it really is funny how my little martini glass meow looks so much broader than kakashi (it's not even that much of an actual difference, i overlayed them to check!) it just looks like that because kakashi looks evenly proportioned but law has their cunty little whore waist TT0TT

in the five years that i've been completely absent naruto fandom circles i've gotten over my wild aversion to facial hair lol, what a weird hill to die on?? i'm still not the biggest fan of huge beards, but you put a mild stubble on a tired little guy?? i'll go bonkers bro, straight COCONUTS-- i draw law with a little extra scruff to their goatee and it's just sdfjskghdkfh!!! 💓💖💗💞 my baby's so masculine oh my gawwww <3333

i suspect it's aizawa who started it all and one piece just doubled down my slightly piqued interest (everyone was just so smooth in naruto and when they did have facial hair it was full beards and no inbetween, that's potentially what turned me off it initially lmao)

wrt law's pronouns i feel unhinged every time i have to talk about it but like skhdskgb i almost exclusively refer to them with they/them pronouns verbally (this counts maybe?? whenever i'm not writing anyway) but sometimes in headcanons or fics the "he" and "him"s just sort of slip out and they feel natural but not when i'm talking about them casually

by and large i'd much rather people use they/them for law when interacting with me but idk i feel compelled to "pick one" and it's one of those silly things that really shouldn't bother me but does sdkhfskgh

i doodled the old oc i used to have paired with kakashi (they still do live together somewhere in the back of my mind!) alongside law's little kirin chibi but they technically do have an OP version and that's vastly different from who they used to be in the narutoverse nobody's particularly interested in that but me but i still think it's a neat little tidbit :3

i could've easily done this interaction with iruka or shisui - since they were very much comfort characters too, hell, shisui even ended up as an OC (reiji!) cause i loved him that much - but ultimately i ended up picking my og naruto king 💕

okay that's enough rambling for one day, i didn't touch that much on aizawa because this is long enough as is sdjfskghkdg back to my little corner i skitter--

Mizuki overhears Iruka making dinner plans later in the week with Tae at Ichiraku and once he leaves Mizuki's like "I thought you didn't like ramen??" so Tae says it's not his favorite but it is Iruka's so he doesn't mind going there to spend time with him

That's one of the things that annoys Mizuki about Tae so much, that he's this capable, talented, shinobi with all these things going for him but he's also fixated on this idea of not getting in anyone's way or inconveniencing them, as if there's no other restaurant or place they can hang out it

Mizuki asks what's his favorite thing to eat then, Tae says it's yakiniku but going to a barbeque place alone feels kind of… (Mizuki feels bad for asking and he's mad about it.wav) so it ends up with him grumpily offering to treat Tae at the new place that opened recently Kotetsu and Izumo manifest out of thin air apparently at the mention of free dinner (they had to pay for themselves anyway) but Tae enjoys their company so Mizuki couldn't stay too mad

It also opens up this thing where Mizuki talks with Iruka later on about how he's always had this little puppy crush on Tae but how much does he actually know about him really - who he is as a person, his likes and dislikes, what's important to him, etc - since all he's done is observe from the peripheries of mutual friends/groups, Mizuki knows it's not his place to pry too much but he wants to look out for Tae since he's… his friend or whatever So from then on Iruka makes it a point to actually get close to him, and also teases his team mate for finally starting to open up and forge strong bonds

As a bonus I think it's cute if whenever anyone asks Tae what MIzuki is to him he'd hold his hand and say that he's his friend with a completely straight face, because to him it's just reassuring Mizuki that he is and he doesn't have to run anymore, but to everyone else it does look kinda gay

Something something, "I'm not going anywhere, you don't have to hold on so tightly" but he's blushy and avoiding eye contact <3

shisui's tanto was the only thing they managed to salvage from the naka river; his mother wanted tae to have it

he never used it to kill directly because he didn't want to sully shisui's blade with something that bloodthirsty, though tae still fought with the tanto

after the fourth war, tae buries it next to shisui's grave to finally put the blade to rest

as a bit of self indulgence, i also like to think that the blade itself is a family heirloom in shisui's family passed down from kagami uchiha

tobirama had it personally made for his trusted battle partner and even though he never married, he used his position as hokage to make sure kagami's wife and children were well taken care of after the uchiha's death and even after his own

early on in their relationship, shisui used to get really jumpy whenever they changed together or otherwise had to be topless around other people - tae notice his aversion quickly and began to accommodate, but he was obviously a little bothered about it since they were all guys anyway, right?

after hijinks and other shenanigans that lead to more miscommunication and avoidance that past week, rio is finally the one to be straight with shisui and point out maybe the reason why tae's been distancing himself was because he was being considerate or maybe there was a bigger, more important reason for his upset

shisui made a b-line for his team mate's house to apologize and the reason why he was being an idiot all week wasn't because he didn't see tae as a man; it was because he got shy from seeing so much skin from the guy he liked

with stupid teenagers clearing up stupid teenage misunderstandings, they cuddle until tae hears genma's footsteps and shisui has to scramble out of the window he came through
