this entire episode is hozier’s it will come back reference and no one can convince me otherwise
in which every doctor from 9 to 12 decided almost immediately to fight daleks physically in blind rage because *insert action here* but 13, on a visual standpoint, internalize her rage. it’s so strong, the camera is off kilter. like so far when the doctor is fighting or angry or in a rage against the daleks, the camera is either far away as a companion in it’s own right or really close to capture all these microexpressions of the doctor’s emotions in one shot.
however when it comes to 13, everything is in a haze. a blurry haze where her rage just quickly, sharply comes through. it affects the camera in a drastic way, having it slanted and most of the entire shot blurred. you can see her fear, her past selves fear and then that hateful hiss. that slip. that crack. most of the doctors’ are purely emotional when it comes to the daleks but, with her, she almost gave the vibe that she feels nothing. there’s nothing there. which is why when she tells her crew (and others) that she gave the dalek a chance to surrender, it wasn’t just like “yo yall saw that right? i gave them a chance? don’t hold it against me???” but rather her friends are more so like what vanessa is to wilson fisk. they are her vanessa. they are her rationale. even more so since unit is briefly dismantled (and where’s jack and gwen i miss torchwood)
what i’m trying to say is that for the past four regenerations, the doctor was outwardly holding back despite losing their companions trust/perception of them and want to beat. now 13 is more on the “im gonna torture the daleks with my friends until it dies”
like seriously, that generator thing they built didn’t have to burn as slow as it did. she was going to let her friends (and others) hear a dalek scream in agonizing pain until it noped tf out of there and made us almost go through doomsday: tardis edition again but with ryan and his dad.
at least ryan actually went out and grabbed his loved one to save them from the deathly void, what’s your excuse doctor????
Well, we're hoping 'cause someone asked if um you and Christopher Eccleston will do Big Finish audio stories together. So, now we all need to get in touch with Big Finish to tell them that we want this to happen.
