:: mockingbird’s plea
“I want to disappear.”
“I have to see you again.”
“My fading memories will crumble away.”
“These memories are precious to you, I won’t let them go.”
:: briar
The rose briars knitted draping blindfold
Each thorn pricked her snow white skin.
“This must be what death feels like” she said
“If I must live while they must go.”
And so she settled into her nest of pain
Letting her blood glisten like polished rubies.
She dreams of sleep and peaceful days
While locking herself in a cage of time.
The rose briars were a formidable barrier
Each thorn screamed resistance against his shredded fingertips.
“I will not let death take you” he said
“If they must go while you must stay, then I too will stay.”
And so he reached into the cage of solitude,
For the girl donned in rubies.
He dreams of sunlight and the future ahead
While unlocking the door to their crossroads.
:: footsteps of rain
She danced when the sky wept clear
The sound of her steps splashing in the puddles
Was like music in the air.
The gentle pattering of the drops cast a sparkling magic
And when a child asked her, she said she was listening
To the footsteps of the rain.
He listened to the rhythmic thrum of the falling drops
And saw her dancing in the rain.
The sky was dark but she still smiled
As it poured down, on and on.
He closed his eyes and listened closely
To the footsteps of the rain.
:: da capo al fine
The course of fate’s calculations would run as directed, without impediment to its law. The law, the one that dictates the occurrences in the real world. It would seem unfair to some that tragedies should occur according to these calculations, but it was only a part of a larger system. The equations would go as followed.
:: fermata
He caught her at a time where she was fast asleep.
The early noon sunlight cast a soft glow across her pale eyelids. A book in her hand rested against her chest, rising and falling to the rhythm of her breathing. He imagined that she must have been tired from taking care of the children all the time, but her face spelled out her content.
