A Hollow Knight OC I made! His name is Cedric and hes a butterfly, based on the Zetlus butterfly. He was super fun to draw and I plan on drawing him more often.
Cedric’s Nightmare (Isles of Ysamaldri)
Winter Whumperland 2022 Day 1
Whumperland Masterlist of Prompts
Prompt: Nightmare Before Christmas: Shared Nightmare, Stalking, PTSD, Comfort: Hope
Word Count: 1.3k words
This is original sci-fi/fantasy, so I have some made-up terms/titles.
Isles of Ysamaldri Masterlist
I go a bit light on the whump, since this is my first “dedicated” whump short, but it is within the context of an original work. But it’s still inspired by the prompt, so I guess here it is!
🙞 🙟 🙝 🙜
As Cedric followed the small, winged cat with shimmering pale blue fur through the halls, the structure of meticulously crafted and enchanted roots seemed to close in on him. Though, it seemed that they also expanded, so his panic fluctuated with the walls.
They passed numerous amber pods, with various experiments in them. Cedric very, very carefully minded himself around them. He knew what they did. If they found him in there... the queen would not be happy to find him there, as convenient as his recapture would be. It would mean that someone had let him out, and the first suspect would be—
"Cedric!"
The familiar voice gave him pause, and he turned, hope fluttering momentarily in his chest.
The blue cat hissed from in front of him, "Cedric, we must hurry if you want to leave this place."
"Maple?" Cedric called. Even in this place, he could not blame her for her inaction. She came from this lab, after all. She hardly ever came down here willingly.
A humanoid rushed through the hallway, silhouetted at first, but the amber pods that she passed gave off some light, revealing her unnatural hybridity. She was clearly feline, in addition to the humanoid shape, with orange striped fur, whiskers, and feline ears set in a position between human and feline. Her hands, though covered in a thinner layer of fur, still had five fingers, with sharp nails – almost claws, though not quite curved as cruelly – at the end. "I want to help you."
"Azure Star has it taken care of," he told her, with a strange terseness to his voice. "The only thing you can do now is come with us."
Maple looked back where she came from, then at Cedric. She hesitated.
"If we leave, she won't find us," he said. "I'm going to Weylide. You should come, too."
Maple took a small step forward. "I can't. She— she knew. She knows. She doesn't know how you're escaping, but she knew about it."
Cedric felt himself go cold. You're trying to keep me here, the familiar thought whispered. "You're not..."
Maple couldn't meet his eyes. "Please, stay. I can't leave, and I can't bare to be away from you. But I can talk to Her Majesty—."
"But you can leave," Cedric insisted. "We are!" He gestured to the blue cat, Azure Star.
She wasn't there. "A– Azure?" He looked, but not a wing or tail or whisker of Azure Star was anywhere to be seen, "Fine," he started, fighting the fear and desperation as they settled in, "we can find a way out, just the two of us—" He turned back to Maple, only she wasn't there, either.
Queen Tahl’drí was.
She was in her Hybrid form, which was unusual for her. The cheetah ears, in the same position as Maples, were smaller. Her black-and-blond stripes of hair, which usually hung loose, were tied back, like she was planning on doing something hands-on. Her emerald-green eyes almost glowed, despite the amber lighting.
After a moment of shock, Cedric's face settled into a snarl, once-feline fangs lengthening into lupine canines. "How can you do this to us?" he demanded, growled, on his and Maple's behalf. "Your loyal Shaljí?"
The Cí’mehia queen said nothing, her expression blank, but still harsh. She rushed at him.
Cedric woke up with a start, disoriented. Where am I? It took him a moment to remember that he was at the Ziixi Academy, away from the lab underneath Mion Isle, and a few years from his experiences there. A few years from his successful escape.
He got out of bed, and left his room to walk along the empty stone halls. It was a full moon that night, he could feel it. The memories were always more invasive around the full moon.
The center of the Ziixi Academy had a small patch of grass and flowers that opened up to the sky, and the second level. He'd be able to see the moon from there, if it was around midnight. But he knew it was. A reminder to my unnatural being.
Someone was already sitting in the grass, playing with the flowers absent-mindedly. The moon shone on her, revealing the hint of orange fur and a feline-humanoid silhouette.
Using old magic that he hadn't thought about since he left Mion Isle, he silently made his way toward the feline figure. Both products of the lab. But you remain, while I left.
He rushed at her, concealing his approach with the illusion magic he had once known so well. Even though she noticed, she wasn't quick enough to avoid the hand – or, rather, the claw – that reached for her neck and pinned her to the ground. Your opponent can't do anything if you have their neck or head, the old combat instructions surfaced.
In his anger, he felt himself shift – the half-lupine, half-feline form that he hated.
She didn't struggle. She just looked up at him – her eyes reflected the moonlight, like she was tearing up. Then he noticed the tear tracks on the fur on her face.
"Did you have the nightmare, too?" she asked, her voice small.
He had imagined her saying so many things – I'm sorry, Cedric, or Her Majesty wants you to come back, you don't have to be in the lab anymore. Any of the lies to get Cedric to step foot on Mion Isle, to entice him home, into his old life. He didn't imagine her asking about the nightmare.
When he didn't respond, she went on, "Where you left— you escaped the lab? With that blue-winged cat?"
Cedric slowly backed off of Maple, and she cautiously sat up. "Azure Star is the first and current Crystal of Ysamaldri."
Maple nodded. "The Queen knew her. They were once friends, or at least allies."
"I didn't know that."
"She didn't know," Maple blurted. "The Queen. She didn't know you escaped with her help."
"Well, she will now, won't she?" Cedric said, his voice bitter and biting.
Maple shook her head, caressing a flower and not meeting Cedric's eyes. "It's not my assignment to find how you escaped. You aren't my current mission."
"What is?" Cedric growled.
"No one we know," Maple assured, still looking away. "She didn't even grow up on the Isle."
She is lucky for the years she didn't spend there, he thought. "So that means a stranger to the Isle is Tahl’drí's target?"
Maple shrugged. "I'm just glad it's not you."
"Why her?"
Maple shrugged again. "I don't know. The Queen seems anxious about the quick completion of this assignment."
"What's her name? If it's so inconsequential to us."
Maple, finally meeting Cedric's eyes, gave him a pained look. "I can't."
Cedric sighed. I think I know, anyway. "It's Myrkr, isn't it?"
Maple stared at him in surprise.
"I'm roommates with her adoptive brother. Don't try it. It won't end well."
"You know I don't have a choice in the matter."
Cedric shook his head, his anger returning. "You made your choice to not make one. If Tahl’drí makes you do things you won't want to do, then don't. Leave Myrkr alone, or you'll live to regret it."
Cedric remembered the nights he spent in the lab, the numerous tests. He couldn't imagine that Maple had forgotten her own, since she spent more years in there than he did. He stood up. "Think about why Tahl’drí wants Myrkr. Decide if you want to condemn her to that fate, or let her live her life in peace with the dragons. If you continue, I will never forgive you. I might forgive you for leaving me in the lab – but I won't if you condemn Myrkr to something similar. She better not end up as another of Tahl’drí's test subjects, and if she does, it better not be because of you."
He left Maple there, sitting among the flowers and moonlight.
Twisted Wonderland Oc’s part 3: Mystic Isles
Hello hello, it’s time for part 3! So the other day I made a post talking about how the Disney jr shows Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor had a collection of villains that can be used for Oc’s. And then yesterday I made a list of adult villains for oc inspiration. Well today I’m here to share a couple that I came up with on the spot!
part 1 (My MC + a few others) | part 2 (raven twins) | part 3 (mystic isles) | part 4 (wonderland centric) | Picrew used
Beryl Crystalline
These first couple are going to be in Pomefiore, though I also feel like they could fit in Diasomnia as well.
Starting off we have Beryl Crystalline! Beryl is based off the character Prisma from the fourth season of Sofia the First. In the show Prisma is from the Mystic Isles, a magical collection of floating islands that are the source of the worlds magic. Prisma hails specifically from the Isle of Crystals and is known as a “crystal master”. Because of this I chose the name “Beryl” one because it’s a type of crystal and I thought it was fitting. His last name “Crystalline” is just another word for crystal, so a little less creative but I didn’t wanna use “Prisma” or something like that.
Beryl is a third year Pomefiore student, though had originally aspired to be in Diasomnia. Growing up Beryl always felt overshadowed by their younger brother - Aquamarine “Aqua” Crystalline (a freshman in Royal Sword) - who’s magical skills were praised and celebrated. Beryl always felt as though he was ignored by his family and grew to resent his brother, viewing his kindness as pity rather than anything genuine. When he was enrolled at Night Raven, Beryl wished to be sorted into Diasomnia a dorm known for producing the most powerful mages. Though when he was sorted into Pomefiore, Beryl was originally quite upset. After some time though they viewed their situation as just a temporary set back (a momentary lapse! Sorry I had to) and now works twice as hard to prove himself to his family. He had aspired to become the dorm leader and was a very close second, his rival being Vil Schoenheit. Though the deciding factor in the end was that Vil’s personality was much more desirable than Beryl’s.
Beryl is often described as being “two-faced” or sometimes “multifaceted” as it’s difficult to pinpoint his true feelings and personality. On the surface Beryl can come off as kind, sweet, and polite. He is able to easily slip into a helpful, charismatic and loyal persona, one that he usually uses to take advantage of others. Under this persona, however, Beryl can be quite sadistic and cunning. He is extremely intelligent and organized, being able to come up with complex plans that almost always work in his favour. Because of his charisma Beryl has an easy time tricking others and is a master of manipulation. Because of his sadistic nature, Beryl has little care about others if it means helping his own cause. There is an unspoken rule around Pomefiore - and most of the school - not to accept anything made by Beryl as they usually contain potions or sometimes poisons (he always has an antidote, he’s not about to be expelled for killing someone). This is the main reason Beryl is banned from the culinary crucible. His unstable personality is also why he wasn’t chosen to be Pomefiore’s dorm leader.
Another side of Beryl is his inflated ego, pride, and vanity. Beryl is extremely self-centred, competitive, and callous, as his desires and goals trump his care for others. He craves attention and becomes very envious and upset when he feels he is being outshined. Beryls entire goal in life is to outshine his brother and gain the recognition he believes he is being denied. Because of his own disloyalty and manipulation Beryl has deep seeded trust issues. Beryl only interacts with people when he needs to or if it benefits him and he has almost no true friends or people he trusts. Beryl doesn’t have any form of relationship with Vil other then them being classmates and dorm mates. To Beryl, Vil is a constant reminder of his desire to be recognized. He feels Vil is also outshining him even if Vil isn’t even trying to do it. It’s simply Beryl’s insecurity and pride blinding him to the truth. He does however have some sort of relationship with fellow dorm mate Roma Tourmaline who shares Beryl’s jealousy as an overshadowed sibling. Though their relationship is nothing more than a beneficial one on both ends.
Though in a letter sent to Yuri by Aqua, he says that Beryl was not always like this. He claims that when they were little the brothers were quite close, it was only when their magic began developing did they grow apart. Aqua claims that his brother can be truly kind but the actions of their parents hardened Beryl’s heart and is the catalyst for his anger and jealousy. Aqua says in his letter that he believes that Beryl has locked his “true self” away, deep down where no one can reach it. He puts up an act of arrogance and self importance to hide how hurt, betrayed, and lonely he truly is. Aqua believes that by putting up this act, Beryl is trying to protect himself from more heartache whether he realises it or not. He wishes for his brother to be freed from the cage he put himself in, and that one day they can be family again.
As I mentioned before Beryl is incredibly vain. He has a very feminine figure which he often utilises when trying to lower someone’s guard around him. He is very attractive and is just as obsessive with his appearance as Vil is, if not more. Beryl prides himself on his appearance and become extremely enraged if even a single hair is out of place, another testament to his need to be noticed. Beryl’s hair is actually a much darker red than what’s shown in the Picrew, they just didn’t have a darker red option. Beryl’s skin is crystal clear, the only “blemish” being his nose piercing which he got when he was younger to try and gain his parents attention. His hair is well kept and often described as being very soft. Beryl’s most striking feature though is his bright blue eyes which are said to “shine like the finest gemstone”. When dressing outside of his uniforms Beryl prefers to dress either very “loudly” or in very expensive clothes. His outfits are always in season and never clash, and when he isn’t dressed to the T he wears expensive and high end clothes. This, once again, is a plot to gain attention as most people will stop and gawk as someone wearing fancy clothes.
Beryl is gay and uses he/him pronouns, though until he learns to better himself and work through his own trauma he will never be in any form of healthy or meaningful romantic relationships.

Unique Magic:
Crystallo- Beryl’s unique magic allows him to create durable crystals that saps the targets physically and magical energy. This spell must be utilised through the use of an item like a magical pen, and will only work if Beryl can see who they are targeting. The crystals are not unbreakable and all energy taken will be restored once the crystal is broken. Like with Azul’s unique magic, Beryl runs the increased risk of overblot should he over use his magic.
Roma Tourmaline
I said I was tempted to make an Ivy inspired oc so here they are! Roma Tourmaline is based off season 2 villain Princess Ivy from Sofia the First. While she does get a redemption arc later in the series, I love her as a character and wanted to use her anyway. Roma’s first name comes from Ivy’s animal companion of the same name, while his last name “Tourmaline” comes from the gemstone (I was in a gem kick when picking names lol). I chose this name specifically because Tourmaline has a black coloured stone, and I felt it sounded better as a last name compared to some other stones.
Roma is a second year Pomefiore student and friend of Kreahe Corax. Similar to Beryl, Roma grew up overshadowed by his older brother. Hailing from a noble family, Roma was expected to live up to the family name and be on par with his brother in all matters. Mr. Tourmaline was a strict man, often holding very high expectations for his family so they may uphold their image. While he is a good man and wants what’s best for his family, he showed it very poorly. His wife passed when Roma was still a baby and the grief took over Mr. Tourmaline, turning him into a strict and cold man. While he pushed both children into working hard, he always showed favouritism towards Roma’s brother. This lead the already lonely Roma to feel neglected and under appreciated. Roma began to study harder, reading ahead of lessons and practicing his magic for weeks at a time with little breaks in hopes of surpassing his brother. Though when their father didn’t show Roma the attention he craved or felt he deserved, Roma began to feel neglected. This neglect slowly began to turn into resentment towards both Roma’s father and brother. This became especially true when Roma discovered that his brother was going to inherit their fathers title, despite Roma feeling he was more deserving.
When Roma enrolled at Night Raven he had no preference for a dorm, feeling he would be able to become exceptional in any one of them. He was sorted into Pomefiore and Roma seemed quite happy with the outcome. It’s unclear if at the start Roma had some plan of learning about poisons to one day usurp his brothers position, though as of right now that is no longer the case. Roma met Kreahe during their first day of classes since they are in the same class. The two dorm mates got along fairly well, though because of his isolated childhood, Roma did not recognize at first that he had formed a true friendship with Kreahe. Roma would later form a business like relationship with third year Beryl Crystalline, who “empathised” with Roma about being an overshadowed sibling. Though Roma does not trust Beryl. He’s heard many rumors about Beryl and know that their “partnership” can be dropped the moment Beryl does not find Roma of any use. Unlike Beryl, Roma seems to be friendly with their dorm leader, and occasionally goes to Vil for advice.
In terms of personality, Roma is VASTLY different from Beryl. As a child, Roma was a very caring and loving person. While not super close with his brother, the two got along well and Roma’s brother tried to make time to spend with him. Though because of the age gap between them, Roma spent a lot of time alone as a kid. When he too began his lessons in diplomacy and magic, Roma’s loving nature began to waver and become repressed, instead being replaced with resentment towards his strict father. This slowly developed into Roma forming a desire for power when he was denied their fathers position, and a need for attention and recognition from those around him. This need for power and attention is what pushed Roma to excel in his studies and classes. Because he never received praise from his father, Roma values the praise he receive from his professors. Though his pride sometimes gets in the way and he can become a little confrontational when he doesn’t agree with a grade, or what someone thinks about him. Though in general Roma’s insecurities aren’t as sever as Beryl’s. He still value what people think about him, but Roma is more likely to recognise and fix any mistakes he may make.
Unlike Beryl, Roma is not heartless or sadistic. He doesn’t hide his feelings under a layer of masks, but rather Roma is quite open about his emotions. He’s stubborn, has a short temper, can throw tantrums when something doesn’t go his way, and is quite prideful. Roma has difficulty asking for help or admitting his mistakes to others because of his rough upbringing and pride, but he also know that there are people out there who will listen. Roma does have trust issues, though its something that stems from his isolated childhood and is something Roma is trying to fix. Roma is also very intelligent and observant. He can pick up things like body language and social cues fairly quickly and can adapt his own attitude to match. Though despite this, Roma can be quite oblivious to interpersonal relationships. He didn’t realise he thought of Kreahe as a close friend until the friendship was in danger of being broken. It wasn’t until Yuri explained that the sadness Roma had been feeling was because he felt may lost an important person to him. Wishing to fix what had happened, Roma sought out help from Yuri and was later able to save his friendship with Kreahe. Roma is currently working to heal from his trauma and repair his strained relationship with his brother. He still has some trouble making friends but the ones he does have are very dear to him.
As much as I liked the split hair that Ivy has, I also really like this black and white ombré look. I feel like this look is what first formed Roma and Kreahe’s friendship b/c Kreahe dyed his hair, but Roma’s is naturally that colour. I also really liked the up-do that Yor from Spy x Family has! I imagine this is how Roma usually has his hair done, and he clips back his bangs during gym. Formal events he likely lets his hair down and styles it a different way. I was also trying to get Ivy’s over all monochrome vibe going on. Roma isn’t a fan of bright bright colours, if he has to wear colour he prefers dark colours. Most of his casual wardrobe is black, white, and grey. I imagine he would have something a kin to a monochrome dark academia aesthetic with a few things like the big puffy jacket thrown in. Roma does have a rather androgynous figure and cares about his appearance. Though he is not obsessive like Vil or Beryl, Roma does take time each morning to get ready for the day. He’s also described as having a perpetual “sleepy look”, this is likely due to the long hours he spends studying. Though he may look sleepy, Roma is still well rested! Roma is also one of those people who where’s shades all the time, but it’s only because they are a special pair Kreahe gifted him. They glasses have a special tint that makes everything viewed through the lenses to appear in greyscale, that was Roma’s eyes don’t hurt from looking at all the bright colours of the school.
Roma is the founder of the Enchanted Gardening club. The club mainly focuses on growing enchanted plants, though the club also grows plants and herbs to be used in potions or medicines. Many of the members are students who use flora magic, though it’s open for anyone to join.
Roma uses he/him pronouns. He is also biromantic demisexual and is not currently in any romantic relationships.

Unique Magic:
Fleeting memories - Roma’s unique magic is a memory erasure type spell. This spell allows Roma to summon a black and white dragonfly which can erase a targets memories by circling the targets head. The sting from the dragonfly is said to be painless, though seems to drain the targets energy, leading them to fall to the ground. They will not remember anything since they woke up that day, and the memories are gone forever. If stung enough times a target may loose vital memories such as their sense of self or even their name. Roma, however, has never utilised his magic to this extent since he would run the risk of overblot.
Rheagan Festus
Guys guys I need every to quiet down and say hello to my son! Guys this is Rheagen - pronounced RAY-gan - Festus and he’s inspired by my favourite Sofia the first character Cedric! There’s this running joke in the first season where Sofia constantly mispronounces Cedric’s name accidentally even though he always corrects her. I wanted to keep that joke going so I literally looked up “male names that are easy to mispronounce”. I chose Rheagan both because the spelling is kinda funky and because the site I found it on included “REE-gan” as a pronunciation. I feel like a lot of people upon first meeting Rheagan pronounce it as REE-gan. I also picked it because I means “little king” which is a call back to Cedric’s original desire to take over Enchancia before his redemption.
Rheagan is a first year Daisomnia student, though some criticise his magical prowess. He is often called “bumbling” because Rheagan can be a little bit of a airhead. He is the kind of person who will become so engrossed in what he’s doing that he misses important details. This is usually why his spells misfire or get jumbled up, though he is not completely incompetent. Rheagan truly has a lot of magical talent and the capability to be a great mage, which is the reason he was sorted into Diasomnia. When put on the spot Rheagan can have a little trouble with verbal spells, though give him the chance and he will perform some great spells! He studies very hard and is determined to prove himself worthy of being Daisomnia.
Rheagan grew up the second child from a very famous family of mages, which caused a great amount of pressure to be put on Rheagan and his older sister. Growing up the siblings were fairly close, and often practiced magic together. And even though they could get on each other’s nerves like any siblings, they truly care for each other. Rheagan and his sister were each other’s biggest supporters. Their parents played favourites between the siblings, with their father favouring his eldest, and their mother favouring Rheagan. After a misfired spell, Rheagans father began seeing his son as nothing more than a failure of a mage. This caused some suprise when Rheagan was chosen to enrol at NRC, though his father placed a lot of high expectations onto Rheagan as a result. Though Rheagan does hold some hostility towards his father, and some sibling rivalry with his sister, he does care deeply for his family. Despite their constant arguing, Rheagan hates to see his sister in pain or distress, and his sister feels the same way. He often will complain about going home for breaks because he is not over his sister taking his things and treating him like a child (despite them only being 4 years apart in age), though he usually comes back in high spirits will many stories about his family. It’s been revealed that much of Rheagans determination comes from his desire to prove himself to his father as more than the “family disappointment”. He is pretty much the only one of this set who doesn’t have super negative feelings towards his family.
Rheagan can be a bit of an airhead at times, usually misplacing things like his magical pen or notes is plain sight. Though he isn’t stupid, just a bit distracted at times. Rheagan is also a totally klutz, often tripping over his own feet though it’s usually just because he isn’t paying attention or gets overly excited. Despite these traits, Rheagan is a very hard worker, often spending his breaks between classes studying advanced spells and potions, and is very prideful of his skills as a mage. He is also very intelligent, being able to remember a number of complex spells and potions ingredients after reading through the spell a few times. He has proven that when he really concentrates he can pull off advanced spells perfectly. The main issue is Rhegans nervousness and self esteem issues. Being raised in a house filled with high expectations and feel like the family failure caused Rheagan to have a bit of spell casting stage fright. He can become easily nervous when put on the spot which is usually when his spells misfire. His father has also proven to regularly interrupt Rheagan when the young mage is trying to cast spells, causing Rheagan to jumble up the words and mess up his spells. Unlike his inspiration character, Rheagan has no desire to take over the family business or anything, rather he just wishes to gain his fathers approval just once. Rheagan can also be a little short sighted at times, often proposing plans but not thinking them all the way through.
Similarly to Deuce and Jack, Rheagan despises cheaters though doesn’t seem to show the same feelings towards lying. This may be because Rheagan will utilise the way people underestimate them to his advantage, occasionally manipulating others when he needs to. Unlike some of his classmates, Rheagan has a strong moral code; he will not harm anyone himself, he will not cause anyone unnecessary suffering, and always pays back his debts. Rheagan is a very kind person with a good heart, as seen by his his love for his family (even if he is criticised by them at times) and his love for his friends. He cares deeply for those he considers friends and hates to see them in distress. Rheagan also seems to be wary of stealing, though that may be because his sister can be a bit of kleptomaniac. He doesn’t steal unless he deems it absolutely necessary.
Rheagan is also quite the nerd. He loves to talk about the things that interest him and always gets excited when someone is willing to listen to his tangents. Like Diaval, Rheagan is quite the inventor and the two dorm mates usually help each other out when they need a second pair of hands, or someone to consult on technical issues. Rheagan suffers from insomnia and usually looks quite tired. When he can’t sleep he’s usually reading or tinkering on his latest inventions. Rheagan does get annoyed fairly easily, especially when someone messes up his name.
So I actually discovered a split hair option on the Picrew I use for these base designs (which could have worked for Roma if they had more options). I was having some issues decided on if I wanted Rheagan to have solid black hair or if I wanted to include the white in Cedric’s hair. It appears in some screenshots that his hair was solid black as a kid but then he gained his white bangs some time later. I’ve decided that due to his fathers strict expectations, Rheagan began showing some grey in his hair so he just dyed half his hair to cover it up. Y’all know that I had to keep Cedric’s bigger nose! There wasn’t a hooked nose option, so just know that Rheagan does in fact have a hooked nose! He also has a tooth gap, either from a misfired spell or from his clumsiness, you decide. He’s also pretty tall - not at tall as Jack, maybe an inch or two shorter - and lanky. He’s got long limbs which add to his clumsiness 🤧.
Rheagan is cis and uses he/him pronouns! He is also omniromantic asexual. I feel like he would have a slight crush on Roma, but it’s actually more of admiration for Roma’s magical skills rather than anything romantic.
