Today had been an awfully long day. First off, Lucy had had the early morning shift, starting the day at 4am and she hadn’t even had a break until her shift had been almost over anyway. Next, Elliot had texted her around lunchtime to pick up their daughter from school because he couldn’t make it. That wouldn’t have been a problem at all. Seriously, Luciana was fine with that. It only made sense that they helped each other out in situations like these. You could never plan on a 100%. That’s just not a thing. Still, the situation for Lucy had changed rather drastically when she hadn’t been the only woman waiting for Jenny outside the school building. No, Lucy had been - thanks to Elliot - confronted with his new girlfriend and good lord, it had been awkward. Of course, Lucy had played it cool in front of her daughter. She'd taken them all out for a round of hot cocoa, but inside of her, there’d been a turmoil of emotions. Still was.
Now, Luciana was home, preparing a dinner that could possibly work for three persons, but if Elliot had other plans, would work as leftovers tomorrow. Pouring herself a glass of water, Lucy took a deep breath to calm herself down. If she concentrated on it, she could hear music from Jenny’s room where her daughter was hopefully finishing her homework. It didn’t actually matter. The weekend lay ahead and it was Elliot's responsibility this week anyway. Lucy couldn’t stop thinking about her afternoon, the strange situation she’d unintentionally put her daughter in, about how exasperated she was with Elliot and- damn, she was just so tired.
