Wedding Industry Awards
I love an award... I have my trophy which I won in 1983 for Miss Rheumatism and Arthritis Foundation of Tasmania Princess Personality in my bathroom. It's one of my pride and joys.
So when the opportunity came up to enter the Wedding Industry Awards, I 'ummed' and 'ahhed' for all of about five minutes before thinking 'go for it'. I had to ask clients who had used my celebrancy service to vote for me, which included them writing a testmonial. I hope I got through to them that there was no pressure to do so, and I was overjoyed that 11 out of the 13 I asked did so, willingly! With no arm bending/bribery!
The awards were last week, and although I was unable to attend, I did watch the twitter tweets come in thick and fast. I had been shortlisted for 'Special Touch' (much to the amusement of many) and 'Best Newcomer'. Sadly I didn't win either, but I did download my certificates and posted them onto facebook. My friends, those who have seen the trophy in the toilet, all made the right noises.
I may not have won, but boy, it feels good to be able to just participate in the process. I hold my head up high that I work with so many amazing people within this industry.
