Tonight is the biggest red carpet event of the year, the Oscars! All of our favorite stars are stepping out and serving major fashion moments! While we patiently, or in my case impatiently wait for stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong’o, and Julia Roberts to hit the carpet, let’s take a look back at some of the biggest style moment of Academy Awards’ past.
First we have Gwyneth Paltrow. Her first look was from the 1999 red carpet in Ralph Lauren. This pink ballerina inspired gown was… questionable? Then in 2011, she showed us glamor in Calvin Klein Collection looking fabulous. Finally, in 2012, she had her biggest fashion moment yet in this amazing white Tom Ford dress with a cape that served for the gods!
Next we have Sandra Bullock. In 2004, Sandra followed the spray-tan-bad-highlighted trend (thank god those days are over) and wore Oscar De La Renta. Then in 2010 the ‘Gravity’ nominee wore this amazing embroidered Marchesa gown, looking effortless and angelic. In 2013 she opted for this Elie Saab dress that also looked gorgeous! I hope that Sandra wears something similar to her 2012 Marchesa look. The silhouette complements her figure beautifully and she always had that hair that every girl wants.
It would NOT be an Oscar rundown if Halle Berry wasn’t included, right? Who can ever forget her 2002 Elie Saab floral-sheer dress? This look revolutionized the Oscar red carpet! In 2011, the actress wore this ivory embroidered Marchesa gown, still looking divine! Last year’s Versace look… I. Was. Obsessed. For some reason, a lot of people criticized this look, but I loved it! The structure of the dress gave me an 80s feel. The stripes completely complemented her figure. I will always love this look.
I like to refer to Angelina Jolie as the bad witch of the red carpet, and I mean that in the best way. No one wears a black dress like Ms. Brad Pitt. In 2000, the beauty wore this sleek black Versace dress, looking minimal and chic in every way. Fourteen years later, she could still rock this look if she wanted to! #Timeless. 2009 brought Jolie glamor, elegance, and a gorgeous Elie Saab dress. Those emerald earrings might just be one of the best worn accessories ever on the red carpet. Last, but certainly not least, we saw the leggy-est look of all time! In 2012, Donatella dressed Angelina once again in this Atelier Versace gown. Remember all of those meme’s from 2012 mocking the leg pose? Epic.
