This is colored version of the sketch I did for this painting a while back
I have no idea which version I prefer... 👀
Imploring Hathor
Queen of the Celestial Nile,
born in the foam of the starry sea;
Lactating goddess, with spiraling locus of creation,
I implore thee!
Bestow your blessings upon this house,
shine the light of your stars upon this body
and nourish the foundations of this spirit.
Be with me, O Goddess!
Bringer of both joy and despair,
usher of fertility and death -
Oh, Creatrix, cast your gaze upon me now!
Cover me in your starry mantle,
Grant me your wisdom and grace,
Make my voice worthy of the honor of singing your praises -
Goddess, be with me!

I've been ill this week so couldn't perform any offerings to Hathor. I've been wanting to experiment with @little--sparrow's Hathor sigil for a while and thought this was the perfect time! I traced the sigil and then carved it, but because it wasn't very visible I coloured it in with gold pen. I think it looks absolutely beautiful framed by my two lovely statues and I hope the lady herself likes it 💖
Among Hathor’s epithets from her temple at Dendera are the following celestial ones; ‘Mistress of the sky, queen of the stars, ruler over Sirius… ruler of the sky’. The title 'Mistress of the sky’ is a very old one. The Greeks identified Hathor of Curae with Aphrodite Urania… the epithet Urania means heavenly or spiritual and was used of Aphrodite when referring to her less earthly and more spiritual aspects.

The festival of Plucking the Papyrus for Hathor was specific to the Delta region... The ceremony was called sss w3d.w and it is suggested that this phrase is derived from the sound of rusting papyrus rather than the word for picking. The verb sss means to rustle and is closely connected to sss.t, the sistrum. The shaking of the papyrus would produce a rustling sound which was soothing to the goddess, reminding her of her home in the papyrus swamps of the Delta.
