hello again!! hope you’re doing well😊 could i request a prompto x reader where the reader is in love with prompto (he’s so sweet and v beautiful to look at during the car rides) and despite being quite shy they occasionally be quite flirtatious with him until they can’t take it anymore and confess to him before it’s too late and he ends up with cindy (the reader is scared he might end up with her)? i imagine they’re out at a shop or something and the reader just confesses. thank you!!

Golden hair shines in the afternoon sun, unruly portions shifting with the breeze. He’s sprawled precariously across the front passenger seat, camera in hand as he takes photo after photo of the scenery to his right.

He turns to you with a smile. Then, an outstretched hand offers up the camera. 

“Isn’t it so pretty here?” He remarks while you scan through his most recent pictures.

“Mm.” You hum in agreement, admiring his artistic ability. Sneakily, you adjust a few settings and then turn the camera on him, capturing the image before he can pose.

“Such a backdrop suits you.” You compliment him without much thought. He turns away with obviously-feigned annoyance, a blush hidden from your view.

The car ride is quiet again, and you resume your earlier thinking. Strong, attractive, and talented...I have to make a move before he ends up with Cindy, or whoever else. You imagine someone like him will have little difficulty procuring a partner; you just hope that with some effort from your end, he’ll consider you.

Once the prince voices his want for lunch, the car pulls over at a roadside diner. Everyone hops out, eager to stretch their limbs and order. You call out to Prompto.

“Mind hanging back a minute?” You ask, and he nods. 

“Sure thing.” 

Ignis gives you a knowing look before heading inside with the others.

Alone now, you breathe slowly and deliberately. The man before you looks so lovely, you nearly forget what you’re doing.

“So, what’s up?” He shifts his weight from one leg to the other, hands in his back pockets. One moment, you’re indulging in the sight of his tousled hair, kind smile, lean muscle, and then the next…

“I love you.” You declare, mostly by accident. It had been your intention to imply such a thing, with subtle compliments and proper eye contact, but this will have to do. “I understand if you don’t feel the same way, of course! I just...I don’t want to regret anything. You mean a lot to me, and I wanted you to know.” Your eyes fall for a moment, your smile bittersweet. 

When you lift your gaze again, Prompto is redder than you’ve ever seen him. 

“I love you, too!” He nearly shouts this, and your heart stutters with shock.

In the same instant, you both move toward each other for a kiss. The force and timing, unfortunately, result in your foreheads smashing together. A fit of laughter follows.

“Let me try that again.” He suggests, his expression as sheepish as yours. Carefully, a freckled hand cups your cheek, and he brings himself closer. 

His lips are even softer than they appear, though you’d predicted his gentleness. He tastes sweet, somehow. The warmth between your chests is comparable only to filtered rays of sunlight, currently bathing you both from above. 

This elation is something new and yet familiar. It is the way he’s always affected you, and always will. You hope to share in this feeling forever.
