The Conservative party is slightly different here. If I were voting in the U.S. or Canada then I'd definitely be voting Democrat. The Conservative party here is much more liberal. While they have questionable views on benefits they're more open about important issues like equality (though in politics that's seriously lacking) and rights for queer people. They seem more in touch than UKIP and Labour at the moment.
