i...i don’t really have the energy to articulate exactly why, but i don’t really agree with everything in this post. it brings up some things that frame the issue in ways that i haven’t conceptualized before and that’s cool, but i also don’t quite agree with all of is (like the parallels between kinky (allo) cishet people and heterosexual/romantic aro/ace people)

I get your point of view esp when it comes from people generally not liking us since we dont fit the heteronormative[ and by extension the amatonormative] mold. I feel that a lot of our "oppression" is just like from other types of oppression such as ableism, racism , misogyny etc etc but it is undeniable that there *something* there but its really hard to pin point it specifically to being aro ya know [thank you for replying c:]

yeah

i like using arophobia to describe that *something*, but i think it's incorrect to understand arophobia as a system of oppression; it doesn't have the kind of institutional back up required to be oppressive.

i haven't gotten to a point of really being able to order my thoughts about this, tbh, and id really love to hear thoughts from my followers, bc this seems like a discussion that needs to be had. especially given the prevalence of cishet aros and aces yelling oppression whenever they're reprimanded for using a slur that doesn't belong to them.
