“what makes me so special?” (mcgen... but bw-flavored 👀)

     even as those words leave the cyborg’s lips,  jesse doesn’t lift his head immediately,  eyes only shifting upon the other when the overly long silence made the cowboy question and eventually realize the prompt was directed at him.   but other than the initial confusion,  a small portion still remained.   what prompted such a question ?   usually genji's strong emotional barriers and sharp blade were enough to scare almost anyone off.   so what was the cause for those walls to suddenly begin cracking ?

“ you’re only realisin’ that now ?   jee,  did someone finally pull the wool off your eyes or what, ”   came his usual snarky response at first,  smirk twisting playfully upon his features as hands met with his hips.   when presented the opportunity,  why wouldn’t jesse tease his workmate,  it was simply a daily occurrence at this point.   maybe it was a way to lighten the mood,  or simply distract genji long enough for him to think of a proper response,  the true reason will never be known.

“ but if you really wanna know,  then i’m more than happy to tell ‘ya. ”   footsteps begin moving across the floor,  closing the distance between the two men,  letting the silence fester for a few moments more.   then,  a single hand reaches out to place against the other’s shoulder,  a bold move considering how proficient the other was with that blade   ...

“ genji,  you’re so distracted by the past to realize how much you’ve changed,  both physically and emotionally.   sure,  it might not have been the direction you originally planned,  but take a look at where you are now !   you’re a kick ass cyborg with one of the deadliest set of eyes i’ve ever seen. ”   okay,  maybe that wasn’t the best response,  but he was getting there,  trust him.

“ ...   ahem,  point being,  you’re one of the most interestin’ people i’ve ever met.   sure,  you got those strong emotional walls up,  i can’t blame you for that.   but you’re so stuck in the past you haven’t realized how much you’ve grown.   you’re one of the most unique individuals i’ve ever met.   so honestly,  to say you’re special is an understatement ! ”

It wasn't unusual for the spirit medium to find herself staring up at the sky long after the rest of the crew had fallen asleep. It was so crazy to think that even in another world the sky was filled with beautiful stars to fill the sky. A thought she apparently wasn't alone in, as her fellow slider often joined her in her stargazing. "Hey Suzaku," she said finally breaking the silence. "Do you ever worry about the people back in your own world...."

   “well, it’s hard not to be when you’re around,”  came the prince’s voice from behind, having wrapped his arms around the other’s waist and had very easily made himself comfortable.  moments like these were rare between them, their days usually being full of stress and conflict, something no teenager should have to go through on a daily basis  ...  but today was different.  they could finally be normal, even if it was for a short time.

a content hum was quick to leave his lips, position shifting so his head was now resting against the knight’s shoulder, staring downward at the ground before lavender gaze met with emerald.  “or maybe it’s because i finally got a good night’s sleep, that may have helped.”  he said, breathy chuckle leaving his lips.

in this moment, lelouch planted a gentle kiss against the other’s cheek.  “but what about you,  did you get enough rest last night?  no terrors disturbing you?”
