Cello Fury – “Odyssey”

  The classical/rock hybrid of Cello Fury has a relative level of gimmickry (cello quartet in ‘rock’ setting), but the music can be quite gorgeous at times.  The modern rock elements are purely a distraction for my ears – Cello Fury’s original compositions show unexpected emotional depth when the drama is pulled back.  It’s a mixed bag and I can see how the draw of drums and ‘power’ with a classical setting would be other’s highlight, but there are moments throughout Cello Fury’s second LP Symphony of Shadows that are awe-inspiring, three cello dancing interweaving melodies with such an emotional touch.

So I just spent the last hour listening to cello fury from the window of my seminar in comp. It was beautiful, and I didn't pay attention to class at all. Whoops.

Just saw Cello Fury and Joy Ike for free in the park and threw pennies into a magnificent fountain. There were children and dogs and buskers and storm clouds over the water as ferries with lights on them drifted by.

They are for reals awesome: rock as played by a trio of cellos with drum accompaniment!
