Celtic Tree Zodiac - Poplar Tree

I found this section in Astro Seek and thought it was interesting. I am not familiar with the Celtic Zodiac, I looked up the same birthdates on different sites and they all came up with different answers I am not sure why. If anyone practices I would love to look into this more. The Celtic zodiac is not my lane so I will probably not make further posts, I am just curious to learn more.

That being said, according to astro seek - based on his birthday he is a Poplar Tree. The below are not my words but taken from astro seek itself.

Why the “celtic tree zodiac” is complete bullshit

A lot of you may have seen pictures like this:

I’m here to tell you that yes, you can believe in this stuff, if you really want to but it sure as hell is not celtic or has any origins with druidic tradition - even if it often claims that, as it’s also called the druidic or ogham zodiac.

All of it goes back to one guy: Robert Graves and his really not as well researched book as it should have been called “The White Goddess” published 1948.

In it the author claims that the names of the Ogham alphabet contain some sort of zodiac - something that he based on speculations in the book “Ogygia” (1685) by Ruaidhrí Ó Flaithbheartaigh or Roderic O’Flaherty, an irish historian, who thought that the Ogham characters were named after trees. And here begins our trouble.

Robert Graves did not use historic resources because he couldn’t understand them (only studied classics for a year in St. John’s College but switched to a degree in English Language and Literature after a stint in the army), so heavily relied on translated texts by authors that were very unreliable because they either forged manuscripts (Iolo Morganwg otherwise known as Edward Williams), wrote fiction (Edward “Celtic” Davies, who bought into aforementioned Morganwg) or just straight up made claims that were heavily critized because they were not supported by sources (Roderic O’Flaherty).

And if that wasn’t bad enough, he doubled down on his bullshit theories after he wrote to Professor Robert MacAlister, who was then an authority on everything Ogham, and dismissed what he said completely.

Graves also seemed to have a feud with his father’s family so didn’t even check his grandfather’s work, who was a leading authority on Ogham and had published papers about this specifically.

So in conclusion TLDR; Robert Graves never actually studied celtic resources and when called out on it was like “Well, I like my interpretation better.”, sold his fiction as truth and all of it wouldn’t even be that bad if his book didn’t shape modern paganism as we know it now (you know that triple goddess thing? - also one of his inventions. You’re welcome).
