Jia’s job consists of love, care, and respect for all the children who were left in her care at the daycare center. She took care of the children as if they were her own, but the only downfall of it all was the attachment. Jia loved the children, their innocence and untainted smiles that they had on their face everyday, it made Jia’s time worthwhile.
But like everything else in the human world, they would grow up and would be taken out of her care and on to the world where their lives would change completely. No longer would she be able to protect and care of them. It was heartbreaking.
And here she was, a shot of liquor in her hand and strands of hair all over her face. It had been a rough day. 3 children were taken out completely, their parents claiming that they would start school or they were moving. Jia would scream “bullshit” if she did ever curse, but she kept quiet with a smile on her face. There was no happy thing about a child leaving and the only way she learned how to cope was with drinks.
Jia drank and drank until she couldn’t even recognize the bartender. She would ask someone for more drinks and waited for a long time before asking someone else. She would tap people on the shoulder and see parts of their pasts and randomly blurt out what she saw, making other people move away from her. “Just like the children!” She yelled, taking the shot in one go before her head dropped against the cold surface.
