Dear friends from the Philippines and from the world,
As you know, our brothers and sisters in Central Philippines were badly hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda. (Note that just a few weeks before, there was a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the same area.) It is estimated that more than 10,000 people were killed because of the strong floods and winds. Many have lost their lives, their families, their homes...everything they have. Most roads are unpassable, and many areas have run out of food, water, electricity, and medicine. Watching and reading news report after news report is heartbreaking and we must do all we can to help by praying, donating, volunteering and spreading the word.
Here are some ways we can, in our own little ways, help relief operations in devastated provinces in Central Philippines. A more comprehensive list can be found at rappler.com or at this blog calledstannisbaratheon.tumblr.com.
We can also work with people in our communities, schools, or offices to raise and send funding and relief goods (canned goods, clothes, medicine) to the typhoon victims.
