Absolutely extraordinary opening celebration for The Sierra group show at @scarabcreativearts Thursday night during ARTHOP. Artists employed a variety of mediums to celebrate the Sierra including fabric, fiber and thread artists Linda Sloan in the second image with her piece ‘California Redwoods’ and Cynthia Minoli in the third image with her ‘Yosemite Upper Falls’ fabric piece. I loved the airy atmosphere of @thefarmerswifefineart painting ‘Going, Going, Gone’ in the fourth frame. That Mercedes Sprinter van has pseudo-cubist vibes! Painter Corbin Callaway’s inspiration and joy of climbing are beautifully captured in the mystical hues of violet and purple in his Half Dome painting. In his second painting, he notes each of the many climbing routes in the tunnel view area named by their first ascensionists that continue to inspire climbers every day. Ceramic artist and Ukraine native @aquamarinaceramics Marina Holladay created ceramic pins and necklaces to raise money for her war torn home. Artist Amy Morgan’s painted silk ‘Looking up’ is fabulous! I felt as if awakened from a fever dream by these forest creatures. Photographer Sharon Matson garnered second place with her Wooly Milkweed image. #scarabcreativearts #fresnoarthop #centralvalleyartists #fabricart #thesierra (at Scarab Creative Arts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CasZf96Pri5JKLHEkBWQnq-C5eOjfvAfZaA_O80/?utm_medium=tumblr
