Hey!

Some of the crew has gotten started with concept art and character design. We've also just sort of been bouncing ideas off each other and I can't wait for you guys to see this!

While we have some very talented artists and writers who are either already working or who I'm going to get started soon, we really need some animators and storyboarders. This is an animated show, and most of the current cast and crew don't know how to animate, or at least not how to animate an entire show.

We're all beginners here, and this is a very low-pressure thing. As of right now, you'd mostly be vibing in the discord, getting to know the rest of the cast and crew, and creating some walk cycles or something.

Unfortunately we can't pay anyone right now, because we're all kids who decided to make a gay little show.

The show follows two best friends, Echo and Molly, who accidentally fall through a portal in an abandoned amusement park where they end up in a magical world. There they meet some friends, new and old, and help to restart a rebellion against the reigning tyrant, Q.

Sensitivity Readers

Salutations!

I've mentioned in previous posts that we'd open a discord server for sensitivity readers, and it's finally happening!

As a sensitivity reader, you'll get some early looks at the show, and make sure that the crew doesn't accidentally enforce a harmful stereotype about any minorities that you're a part of. (You're also more than welcome to join the crew as a writer, artist, storyboarder, or animator; check out my previous posts for that!)

The crew wants to represent groups of people that don't usually get represented in media, but for most that means writing characters that belong to groups of people that we do not belong to. And while we've done a lot of research into the groups of people we're representing, we'd like to be extra sure we aren't enforcing any harmful stereotypes. And even if we do have crew members belonging to some of these minorities, a second or third opinion definitely couldn't hurt.

Any people of color, queer people, disabled people, ND people, or Jewish people are more than welcome to join. We'd love to have you! We specifically need Indigenous genderfluid people, Malayalee people, Mongolian people, Jewish people, amputees, autistic people, and Deaf people for the characters we have right now. (Note: this is from the current character list. There will most likely be more characters in the future.)

Another note: If you're a Deaf person who knows ASL, please feel dm me or fill out the crew form. We have a few characters who know ASL and we're going to have to animate that. You don't need to know how to animate but we could really use some help with that at some point.

We don't have any of the script just yet, but eventually you'll get to see that. Right now you'd basically be looking at character descriptions and letting us know if there's any other rep you'd like to see.

Hey!

So we have a lot of wonderful voice actors who are doing a great job, and yet we still need more. As of right now, we have 18 roles that appear in multiple episodes that are still uncast, with about 2 or 3 auditioning VAs who haven't been cast yet. While some of these are more background characters, they all still need voice actors.

The #1 character we need a VA for is Echo, our main character. One of the big reasons they haven't been cast yet is that since Echo's Indigenous, we are looking for an Indigenous voice actor for them. They are a 14 year old Samish kid who goes on a magical adventure with their best friend and makes some new friends along the way (and some old ones...) If you're interested please dm me, because we really need an Echo. If you're Indigenous but don't want as big of a role, we also have some roles open for Echo's family.

Dm me if you'd like to audition for Echo or any other character, and I'll send you the link to a discord server where either I or another crew member will give you all the information you need for how to audition. You will most likely get the part you want unless someone else also wants it, in which case the crew and I will decide together who we think is the best fit for the role.

This is a very low-pressure environment; we're all mostly just here to have fun and make a show we all like. We're also all kids, so we all have full schedules, so don't sweat if you aren't available 24/7. You also don't need any fancy recording equipment, (although we're certainly not complaining if you have any,) your phone or laptop microphone should be fine. No experience is required, although it definitely doesn't hurt.

Some more art! This is a drawing of Robin/Saturn/Poet/Nicola, a genderfluid teenager with many names, by @my-o-my-what-a-horrible-day. They've been fighting Q under the radar for years, and reluctantly join Echo and Molly's little found family. They're a shape-shifter, but only to a certain extent. They mostly just change their hair color and style to reflect their mood, gender, or whatever they feel like.
