S A M E. I've been wanting f/f steggy for so long but I don't have anybody to rp it with ;-;

The dust wasn't as heavy today, so Steve went to the market. Never as innocent a feat as it sounds, not on Tatooine. 

Those boys have found a new target today, someone small and helpless they're grinding into the dirt and tossing nasty names at, and Steve isn't having any of it. 

"Hey!" the element of surprise is how he manages to push them off, then he's immediately tugging at their bruised victim, using all of his strength. 

It's a little boy, looks about his age except for how he won't or can't put up a fight. Lots of soft dark hair, flashing cat eyes and purpled, delicate skin. 

Steve knows why they want to hurt this boy, knows they can easily get away with it, knows not many people would miss him if they did--but he won't let it happen. 

Because this boy might grow up to be something deadly and feral, but he's no different from the kittens his ma feeds right now. Worse than harmless, young and innocent. 

The boys let him go because Sarah Rogers is the reason half the people in this desert don't hack their lungs out when the seasons change. He hopes this meager veil of protection holds, because Steve's a runt who can't fight for himself, let alone anybody else. 

Sarah stitches the kitten boy up and offers him a nickname, even, 'Bucky' for how he's prone to jump like an animal at threat or surprise. 

She spoils the boy who isn't her son rotten the way Steve never wanted her to, carries him around until he's stronger than her and accepts his sandpaper licks of affection with the grace his own mother probably wouldn't.

Steve holds his friend close at night and listens to him purr like it's his job, and that doesn't change--even when Bucky grows up deadly and sweet.

Steve hasn't had a job in a while, because of his health,so when he finally manages to get one again he finds itodd, not being in the apartment all day. He used to justwait around for Bucky, because Bucky is now the onlyreally constant in his life, but now... well now, he kind of has a life. And he's kind of really enjoying it.

He comes home at around midday for his lunch, andhe can hear Bucky talking in the bedroom. He frowns.Odd... Steve thinks maybe he should go, when he picks up on the fact that Bucky's spouting pick up lines,so maybe he has a dame in there, but... well, he keepsgoing anyway. When he sees that Bucky's on his own,soething settles inside of him--- anxiety. Though he'snot sure why he was anxious. He just knows he's gladthat Bucky's on his own; he saves that thought for later.He grins, skinny arms folding over his bony chest.

          "Are you practising?"
