To finish our group project we decided how the beads needed to be laid out together in the lobby and then strung with a rope.

The necklace ended up being at least 30 feet long, so it was decided to change it to two Unwearable pieces where we hung it one over the other laying it on a plinth

It was a very enjoyable project to work on in the time frame of one week/ 7 working days from receiving the brief to the final hanging stages. I would equally have loved to engage in a longer period of time to find out how else it may have developed.

For the clay + project I used cloth and cardboard to dip into clay slips to create a variant of colored layers for my spices concept.

These are trial pieces and are waiting to dry to put into the Kiln to be fired.

This picture ↓↓↓↓ is the result after firing in the kiln has occurred.

The materials used have burnt out and the forms of the materials are what is left behind.

After Firing...

They were fired lower than 1000 degrees and as a result they are very delicate and easy to break. Some of the structure's have crumbled.

It will be interesting to return them into a higher firing for a second time over 1000 degrees as they should harden up.

#marchmeetthemaker day 16&17: workspace and what I’m working on. . Well my workspace I can’t show ar the moment. I work at the acedemy mostly in a big space for ceramics. We got like 6 ovens, 3 very big, two of 50L and a very small one. Those ovens are in a seperate room for safety. But sometimes I work at home. At the dining table. I use an old pizza box to protect the table from my mess. Can tou spot my pizzabox days in my posts? . What I am working on, well, I finally designed my business card! And also my boyfriend and I will be designing a website. (So the e-mail and website don’t work yet. I will post them in my bio as soon as they are in the air.) So I am setting up my little business slowly. I’m not in a hurry yet as I still study and delayed my thesis. I mostly did for practical reasons. But not having my own atelier yet doesn’t keep me from making art. As long as I am studying I pay for the spaces on school too. It allows me to fire my ceramics for free and also I can use some glazes they have at school.
