This lil mug was lying around on my shelves for the last two years and it was never clear to me how it wanted to be finished. So I had space in my last firing and without to much thought, I put a pattern on it and some gold and this is how it came out. . Ram Dass was in there from the first time I fired it and I just thought it would be funny to have him peaking out from whatever is in the cup. This one took a lil longer than most of my others because of how many different patterns I used. Also this was an experiment to just freestyle decorate a mug without any plan whatsoever. I'm looking forward to seeing it fired with the decals fused into the color because they'll become more saturated. I'm pretty happy with the way it looks so far. . Early on, when I was just getting going on making mugs I had someone, that I was kinda working with, tell me that I should not use so many bright colors and shouldn't use as many patterns and so I decided to use as many bright colors and patterns as I could. This glaze, like many, has lots of names, but the recipe that I've always used is called Seafoam green (cone 6, dm if u want the recipe) I've thinned it way down to a point we're it's finally looking the way I'd like. Also, since I'm moving I'm using up materials in my studio that I don't normally use and so the liner glaze for this was from a commercial glaze called ancient Jasper by aamco that I got for free from a promotion awhile back. I think it looks good with the green. What do you think? . Also, details coming soon on the next shop update. Hey everybody just wanted to give a quick update on my wife's pneumonia situation. She's feeling much better after taking medication and resting, although she gets winded pretty easily. The doctor said she has some scarring in her lungs from it but that she should be ok in the long run. We are both scheduled for our second vaccine shots on the 21st. . In the meantime we are grateful for family and friends and everyone's love and support. Thanks to all of you and especially those who sent us well wishes. We appreciate all of you. Please take time to stay safe and let us all continue to do our best by showing compassion to our fellow human beings ❤️ Health is wealth. . . . Aaaaand I'm finally back in the studio with a renewed sense of appreciation and gratitude for the simple things. Like getting to work on this mug. It's getting close to being done but I still have a little bit to do. There will be decals all over this thing, the handle will be glazed and there will be a liner glaze as well.
