“Well, I guess that’s everything.” Furihata coughed into his hand, purposely avoiding the other’s gaze.
The long weekend had been a disaster. It was supposed to bring them closer together and yet…it turned a rocky relationship into a broken one.
It was just as well. It was only a matter of time before Akashi realized that Furihata wasn’t nearly good enough for him. He never knew what the other had seen in him in the first place. He was a dime a dozen, while men like Akashi…
But none of that mattered now. It was over. Had been over for two days, but, as luck would have it, they’d been snowed it. Ski lodges were funny that way. Especially when one owned a private cabin on the far side of the mountain, accessible by one road.
Thankfully, it was huge and Furihata didn’t run into Akashi once during their separation. Even for bathroom runs or while sneaking into the kitchen to eat.
But he couldn’t leave without saying goodbye. So, once he’d packed his things, he wasn’t surprised to see his boyfriend - ex-boyfriend - standing in the doorway.
“For what it’s worth,” Furihata began, unsure how to finish it. I’m sorry? I really did love you? Thank you for loving me? None of them seemed like the right thing to say, so he settled on, “This was a lovely vacation.”
It was hard to tell, but Furihata could have sworn he’d seen Akashi’s eye twitch.
The crunch of icy gravel alerted him to the arrival of his taxi. It felt strange to be leaving in a different car. It felt strange to be going home alone.
Furihata stepped forward. “G’bye, Sei,” he whispered and completely out of habit, he leaned in a gave him a quick peck on the lips.
He didn’t have time to regret it. He didn’t have time to apologize. Because the moment he started to pull away, Akashi’s hands were in his hair, fingers gripping tight and pulling him back in for a bruising kiss.
Furihata lost himself in that kiss, whimpering as Akashi gently licked into his mouth. It took everything in him to keep his knees from buckling.
Finally, they pulled apart, both breathless and pink-cheeked.
“I’m sorry,” Akashi panted, one hand still tangled in Furihata’s hair while the other moved to brush against his lips. “I was a fool, Kouki,” he said, all pride stripped away. “Don’t go.”
Furihata’s lip trembled as heat crept up his throat and stung his eyes. But he nodded. “Okay,” he said shakily, tears escaping as he collapsed into his lover’s arms. “Okay.”
Ouch. That got emotional. I probably should have had them be broken up for more than a couple days, but…whatever, lol. They’re so extra, anyway (well, Akashi is) I hope you liked it, my darling!! ♥
