What’s good everyone! Happy cereal Friday! This weeks’ pick is General Mills Boo Berry with Marshmallows. The initial smell when opening the package brings back a sensory classic from the past: Trix. Upon dry taste testing, the first thing you realize is the texture of the cereal is rough and hard providing for a very satisfying but extreme crunch. Once you get past the texture then your tastebuds search to find and define the flavor which I have defined as purple. Yes, purple. Immediately my brain signaled to me that I was eating purple. Granted, purple is not a flavor; the closest thing I could link to any type of flavor would be purple food coloring. Furthermore, the purple flavor lingers for a while on your tongue even after swallowing. After adding milk to the cereal some of the overwhelming purple flavor dissipates, but the extreme crunch remains. Continuing on this extreme theme, the marshmallows are extremely sweet! Finally, when you’re left with just the milk in the bowl the flavor run-off isn’t really there. There’s slight milk discoloration leading to a more grayish pigment but not a whole lot of flavor, that is, if you sip the milk. However, if you chug the milk in one slurp you’re sent back to The Land of The Purple and your entire throat is overcome by the purple flavor taste.
