Hi! A random anon here, I really love your fic and Time's fics, and DUDE I re-read the first chapter of your story and now I can't help but think of the ANGST plaguing the monkey family after Reader's disappearance (I YAPPED A LOT, SORRY o_o;):
I can imagine Wukong and Macaque (and eventually MK too when he gets old enough) just... hoarding Reader's things, like an old plush; crayon drawings of their childhood or sketchbooks of more advanced drawings; any images of their kid, in fear of forgetting their face; hunting for any recordings in cameras to remember their voice (and then grieving over the fact of not using such technology to capture their human child's life more back when they could)... even homework, maybe, to remember their lost child's handwriting. Items that back then would be eligible to be thrown out later after too much use becoming almost sacred, holding pieces of Reader's once-present existence in them.
If it's already common for humans to forget past memories and events, then imagine how worse it must be for two immortal, long-living beings? The silent threat of time and fading memory being even stronger than for any mortal, the threat of forgetting their first child, adopted, wanted even if not theirs by blood, all because of how much time would pass? The fear of just... forgetting they even existed at all?
It'd be such a double-edged sword, because they'd only then realize how little Reader had to themselves; how little Wukong and Macaque had given them compared to MK, and now it comes to bite them back when the only thing they get to remember their missing child by being a few measly hand-me-downs and old items; the desperation of preserving memorabilia of their child only to feel grief when realizing that's all of them that's left.
Please don’t apologise for rambling Nonnie, I’m very happy and honoured that you left such passionate rant about my story in my inbox! I absolutely love it.
I do apologise for not responding earlier, I was thinking about this ask A LOT.
While I can’t give away any plans for the sequel, I want to let you know that you gave me some new ideas that I wanna consider throwing in the next chapter.
So, thank you so much for sending in this ramble in. ❤
adh deez nuts
I did the Twisted Wonderland “Sorting Quiz” and much to my delight, I got Pomefiore! : D While I might not be Vil simp, I’m definitely overjoyed for getting Pomefiore as it has such elegant, super cute uniforms and Pomefiore would be my first choice as a dorm in Twisted Wonderland!
Here’s link for the “quiz” if anyone’s interested, feel free to share what you’ve gotten as result if you’d like~ <3
Worst thing abt Xiangliu being ur dad is everytime he tucks you in every. Single. Snake. Has to give you a kiss before he can let you sleep.
-🏩
I had to find a picture of Xiangliu’s other form just to check how many snakes there were. The answer was eight.
The idea of Reader being bombarded with eight small kisses over their face is very adorable, but they’d probably also be so baffled and overwhelmed at the sudden wave of affection that came unexpectedly.
You just lay there in your bed, blinking in surprise quietly, while Xiangliu wishes you sweet dreams, along with the eight of his conscious snakes that seemed to adore you just as much as he does. If you love physical affection, you practically won a lottery with this one!
It’s gonna be so delicious to watch the monkie family squirm without their eldest. Not only with the obvious grief and terror that comes with one of your own children being abducted, but also with the cracks in the family dynamic that Y/N really held together fully unraveling. Without Y/N to stave off MK’s tantrums, to take care of MK, or to do whatever emotional labor they were doing before the abduction, the family is in big trouble.
They scramble to talk to anyone that was close to Y/N- only to come up short. Every. Time.
Teachers remark that either Y/N is excelling or failing, either option was something both of the pair failed to notice. Y/N’s “friends”- if they can even remember who Y/N WAS friends with- are distant at best, uncomfortable at worst. They don’t know Y/N that well, they say, they were always too busy to hang out with. 2 grown men realize how much stress they’ve put onto their eldest. And now they’re gone.
Nonnie, I want you to know how much of a delight it was to read this right after waking up.
This is exactly why I wrote “Unbeloved Beloved”! It puts Sun Wukong and Macaque into a difficult situation and gives them a bitter wake up call, but only after their eldest child is already gone.
Naturally, at first, for MK’s sake and their own, they wanted to find their child. Just because Reader wasn’t their top priority like MK, doesn’t mean that they won’t be worried sick for them. Reader is still part of the family, they’re still Sun Wukong’s and Macaque’s baby, they are still MK’s favourite family.
Like you have said, with their absence, there is a visible, gaping hole left.
Finding them gone one day with no note or any trace was jarring and completely out of character for Reader, who was always an attentive, responsible child.
As they start searching and asking around for Reader from their teachers and peers, the realisation really starts to kick in after they learn that most kids in their class don’t really talk or hang out with them.
They’re baffled by the fact that kids dislike them for ‘their attitude’, not enough to bully them (no one wants to bully Great Sage’s kid, mind you), but enough to not want to hang out with them.
Reader has a small circle of friends from other classes and even they don’t usually see them much outside of school.
And with that now known, both of the fathers wonder why their kid never brought up that they had a hard time in school?
Why did they never mention that other kids called them a bore or ungrateful?
When their teacher also mentions that they just assumed that Sun Wukong and Macaque had decided to home-school them because Reader had hard time socialising with their peers, the two pause to look at each other. At the same time, they think about how uninvolved they were with the Reader’s life.
Just how much didn’t you tell them? Just how much didn’t they know?
Ramble incoming :Hello, ive read your 'beneath the serpent's scales ' au and i am enjoying it a lot. Id assume growing up with Xianglu would be a big adjustment. Mostly because of the freedom he'd allow Y/N to have. I think he'd be fine with whatever new experiments they'd try as they rediscovered themselves. Like maybe they dyed thier hair the same shade of green and styled it in a way that mimicked his snakes . Maybe they pick up his habit of being able to manipulate and fool people too ,as well as way of fighting. As time goes on i think Y/N would end up hating Wukong and Macaque but not Mk, Never Mk. They miss him somtimes but they dont want to give up the freedom Xianglu gave them and besides he's a better parent then Wukong and Macaque ever were to them.
Im imagining the next meeting between the 4 of tgem. With Yn with thier new dad gleefully helping him with his plan. Excited to witness the chaos with him.
Wukong and Macaque cant believe thier eyes, that's thier kid. Sure its been a few decades but they couldn't forget thier first child. But it looks like they have forgotten them (they haven't, they just dont care for them anymore) and thier so .. different from the attentive and obedient child they knew. The young adult in front of them was loud, chaotic , manipulative and an adaptive fighter.
I think Xianglu would tell yn of Mks original purpose when they're old enough and they believe thier dad when he tells them his plan is for tye best. Hiw could they not? He's been thier for them and treated them much better then Wukong and Macaque ever did.
Id assume the two of them would forcibly kidnap them back if the gentle approach didnt work. Xianglu wouldn't let that happen however.
It all culminates in a interaction where yn just straight up tells the 2 of them they hate them and choose Xianglu as thier dad and walks back to his side, leaving thier past behind them.
I really like the fact that everyone’s impression that one way or another, Xiangliu would somehow effect Reader’s appearance.
I personally always liked the idea if Reader grew their hair out, Xiangliu would help them in braiding it. Though ultimately, Reader’s appearance remains up to you guys to imagine however you want.
That said, I appreciate you sending in this ask! I’m glad to know you enjoyed my story so much. : )
Omg I had no idea I was ur first nonnie omg :O.. I can go by 🏩 or lovey- I’m actually a lurker on itsabouttimex2 and I just ADORED ur fic sm :D!!!
Do you have any yandere thoughts on the LMK cast that you would’ve liked to explore in ur fic but had to cut for time?
-🏩
It means a lot to hear that you liked my fic! <3 Again, thank you so much for the warm support, I'm literally so touched! When it comes to “Unloved Beloved” tbh, while I’m mostly satisfied with how it turned out, I have so much more in store for the sequel.
For example, the consequences that follow after Reader’s disappearance and how the Monkie family is going through it.
What I’m really want to try writing is also the relationship between Xiangliu and Reader. In the sequel, it’s gonna be bound to change drastically due to his actions in the first part.
If I had more patience, I would’ve loved to write the whole drama where there’s confrontation and Monkie family sees Reader again, but I feel like for writing such story, it’s better to write it in more parts since it takes a lot of planning to do.
There’s a lot of things to consider since this is an AU; with itsabouttimex2 writing about Shadowpeach basically enabling MK so much that the Reader took the parental role in teaching him the most basic skills, I really wanna consider how would it go in an AU where MK is needed to be a hero.
In case of Shadowpeach, I picture them becoming much more protective and smothering towards MK after their oldest child disappears without a trace.
With this in mind, MK would have real difficulty in becoming a hero like in canon, since he’d have his fathers who’d deal with all of the show’s opposing threats on their own, just as long as their precious boy is safe.
But then, all of that comes tumbling down for them once they learn that their precious baby boy is meant to be a sacrifice created by Nuwa. Of course, they’re never gonna accept that! They lost one child already and now, they were told that they have to lose another?!
And then, to add salt on the wound, they end up meeting the mastermind that took away their eldest from them.... MK will be the least thrilled in coming face to face with Xiangliu, who’d still have Reader with him by that point.
As you can guess, there’s a lot of ideas that I'm playing with right now and I’m still trying to see what'll work well for the story direction that I intend to take.
The plot is still bound to change and right now, I’m aware that I didn’t mention a lot about Xiangliu's relationship with Reader and how it’ll change.
I don’t know how much could I reveal since that’s meant for the second chapter, but honestly, what I can say for sure, that between all of these yanderes, Reader won’t be having that much fun, one hundred percent.
