Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Taken on 20/06/2020. Positioned 859 metres above sea level in a pretty, picturesque valley is Certosa di Pesio that was founded by a monk in 1173. The Monastery acquired great importance, so much so that it became one of the most significant cultural and spiritual centres in Piedmont. However, after this long period of economic prosperity, it suffered from looting and attacks carried out by Napoleonic troops in 1802, forcing the monks to abandon it. Following restoration, the Charterhouse was transformed into a hydrotherapy institute that was intended to welcome illustrious guests such as the Princes of the House of Savoy. After this period, it once again fell into neglect before returning to its religious function in 1934. Despite having lost its original medieval appearance, the Charterhouse has retained some late-Renaissance characteristics, especially in the cloister as you can see in this photo with the Maritime Alps peeking out in the background. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Certosa di Pesio is the final stop on the Cuneo–Chiusa–Pesio line ('BusCompany' line 43) though only during the summer months, typically from mid-June until the start of September. Otherwise, the final stop is San Bartolomeo which is about a 5km walk from Certosa. ______________________________________ #certosadipesio #vallepesio #ig_cuneo #italygram #italia #italy #ilikeitaly #piedmont #italy_illife #smartphonephotography #samsungtravel #travelblogger #instatravelitalia #travelgram #lensbible #italiastyle_piemonte #nofilter #italian_places #createcommune #tesori_italiani #lhwtraveler #gf_italy #viaggioinitalia #bestintravel #browsingitaly #ig_italy #ig_piemonte #yallersitalia #yallerspiemonte #charmingitaly (at Certosa Di Pesio, Piemonte, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/CB04CygIfhy/?igshid=1jvvtf65pfk7e
