quick question about your "danny is actually dead" posts because thats a super cool theory, ive never though about the first episode like that!! but like what about when vlad shorts out his ghost powers in Maternal Instincts? or even whenever he passes out and reverts back to human form unconsciously?
i'm so glad you asked me this!!!!! omg i've actually been thinking about what to do for vlad, since he'd be the easiest rebuttal to my theory, and i'm planning on going through every episode with this theory/lens. so i'm still working on that one, but i don't think that vlad is dead. but i don't think that he's necessarily a 'halfa' either? idk whenever i think about these things the closest thing i can think of is comparing danny and vlad to mutants (from xmen haha) because as said in the theme song, his "molecules got all rearranged."
the reason i don't think vlad is actually dead is because as seen in "masters of all time" (season 2) is because when vlad got his powers, he wasn't electrocuted--the ghost portal/plasma(/whatever the ghost portal is made of haha) hit him in the face, giving him ecto-acne. so like i said, i'm still thinking through this one :) but right now, i'm kindof thinking that he was actually afflicted with some sort of ghost disease (an actual one--completely unlike the hospital episode), and that disease in turn infected/affected his body/dna, causing a mutation which did allow him powers. whereas (and i know i'm repeating myself) danny got entirely electrocuted, which surely would have killed a person rather than giving them powers.
and i think vlad definitely had the upper hand, because not only did he have the dedication to practice his powers, but he also had the resources: money, and knowledge about not only science, but ecto-science as well.
OKAY WOW WAIT SIDE NOTE I LITERALLY JUST THOUGHT ABOUT THIS THEORY so like since the ecto-rays/plasm from the mini-ghost portal from his college years hit his head, it's possible that there was radiation of some form, and radiation can affect a person's make-up--think cancer, disfigurement, hair loss, hell, even bruce banner. and that radiation could have easily gotten to his brain, considering just how close he was to the ghost portal--which means that his spinal cord may have been affected, and from there, bone marrow. (wow ok i'm reading so into this haha). So, in a way, he didn't necessarily die, but part of him did, and this caused a mutation in his body which allowed him to have powers. Especially with the ecto-acne--so basically, we're back to my previous point. There's definitely ghost-like essences or powers within ecto-acne, especially if a human's been infected with it, so I think that with his resources, he could have harnessed its powers and practiced so much that he was able to become pretty dang powerful.
SO TO FINALLY ANSWER YOUR QUESTION i think that vlad is like 90% human, who has harnessed the powers through the ghost portal incident and his resources. so because he is human who has access to ghost powers, i think that's why he shorts out (and also if i remember correctly, danny looks much more fatigued from the belt that maddie created than vlad--i'm definitely gonna look into that once i reach that episode), and also why he's able to revert to a human form when he's unconscious.
