Hi, I'm the person that asked you to write a fanfic about misty i would like it to be based on the post about when she's sick she only letting a few people be around her while really not liking certain people being close to her
A/N: I am so, so sorry this took me so long to write, anon. I’ve just not really had the time or energy to write, but I hope you like it.
Misty had been curled up in Kristen’s bed since she woke up this morning. She woke up with a low-grade fever, her tummy has been bothering her, and her nose has been running nonstop since she woke up this morning.
Kristen gave her some Tylenol to help lower her fever and to maybe help relieve some of the congestion she has. She's watching Mary Poppins and is coloring in a cat-themed coloring book that Nat got her for her birthday a few months ago.
Kristen puts the back of her hand on Misty's forehead before letting out a small hum of slight satisfaction. “Your fever seems to have gone down,” she pulls her hand back and smiles at Misty. “How's your tummy? Does it still hurt?”
Misty nods, and Kristien gives a sympathetic look, “How about I go make you some chicken noodle soup with some ginger ale. Does that sound good, darling?”
Misty nods, Kristen smiles, and plants a small peck on top of Misty’s head. “Okay, I'll be back.” She smiles as she gets out of bed to head down to the kitchen to fix Misty something that won't come back up like 20 minutes after eating it.
Misty goes back to coloring a cheetah in her coloring book when Kristen leaves the room. A few minutes later, there's a knock on the door, and it opens to reveal Laura Lee, a small smile on her face. Right behind her, though, is Mari, who's looking down at the floor, fidgeting slightly, and holding a piece of folded paper in her hands.
Misty can feel herself sink into the bed, and tears well up in her eyes on instinct at the sight of Mari. She usually could sorta handle the teasing that comes from Mari, but not right now, not today. She doesn't think she can manage a sly comment from Mari today. However, there's a thought in the back of her head reminding her that Mari never makes fun of someone who's sick, even Shauna. Usually, she's constantly checking up on them and making sure that they don't need to go to the hospital, cause for some reason, that's such a big deal to Mari, and no one can figure out why. But this is also Mari, and you can never be 100% sure if she's gonna tease you or not.
Laura Lee notices Misty's anxiety and asks, “How are you feeling, bug?”
Misty shrugs, “Kristen says my fever has gone down, but my tummy still hurts so she fixin me some chicken oodle soup and ginger ale.” Laura Lee nods, and she glances towards Mari, who's behind her, and back at Misty.
“Mari has a card she made and wants to give to you. Is that okay? Can she give it to you?” Misty can see the slight blush on Mari’s face. Misty nods. Suddenly, Laura Lee nudges Mari towards Misty.
“It's a get-well-soon card,” Mari says as she hands the homemade card over to Misty. She takes it, opens it, and sees a stick-figure drawing of her and, what she assumes is, Mari, holding hands with a yellow heart between them, and at the top in big pink letters it says ‘Hope you feel better soon’.
“See, it's us holding hands and we're dressed up as cats, see. You're a tiger 'cause that's your favorite cat, and I'm dressed up as a cheetah 'cause that's my favorite cat. And the heart is amar- I mean yellow, cause I know that's your favorite color, and the words are pink, cause I know that's your second favorite color.” Mari was rambling, a habit she has when she gets nervous.
Misty couldn't help but give Mari a small, nervous smile as she thanked her. Kristen walked in a few seconds later with a bowl of soup and a sippy cup of ginger ale.
“Alright, I think that's our cue to leave now,” Laura Lee says as she ushers Mari back over to her. “I hope you feel better, Misty-bug.”
As they were leaving, Misty could hear Mari ask Laura Lee if she would have to go to the hospital. Laura Lee reassured her that Misty is not going to the hospital and will be better in a day or two, which made Misty a bit happy, cause it showed her that even though Mari teased her a lot, she still cared about her.
“What do you have in your hand, honey?” Kristen asks as she gets out a little folding TV tray she keeps in her room.
“A get-well card Mari made me.”
“That's sweet of her. Now, do you want me to feed you, or do you wanna try to feed yourself?”
Misty looks up at her doe eyes, “Can you feed me, pretty please?”
Kristen smiles as she brushes a few strands of hair out of Misty's face, “Of course, darling.” She grabs the spoon and picks it up out of the bowl, and puts her other hand a few inches under the spoon so as not to make a mess. She blows on it a little to cool it off, so Misty doesn't burn her tongue when she eats it.
She doesn't finish all of it, but she eats close to half and was now just cuddled up against Kristen with her sippy cup in her mouth, nursing the ginger ale, and her eyes were getting heavy and hard to keep open.
She fell asleep and wasn't sure how long she had been sleeping for until she got woken up by Mel coming into her room and announcing, rather loudly, that she also made Misty a get-well soon card. Misty's head was pounding, and the Tylenol seemed to be wearing off cause she's all hot and sweaty. All that, combined with Mel coming in and being really loud, sends Misty to tears.
Misty's crying pretty loudly, and she knows Mel didn't mean to upset her, but it was all just so much at once and really overwhelming. Kristen wakes up with a start after falling asleep also and tries to calm Misty down.
Nat, who heard all the commotion, came in, saw the scene before her, and guided Mel out of the room, explaining that we need to have an inside voice, especially when someone isn't feeling well, and that when Misty is calm, she can apologize.
After getting Misty calmed down, Kristen grabs an extra paci for her and explains to Misty that she's going to put more drink in her sippy cup and that she'll be right back, and she can pick out any stuffed animals that Kristen has lying out on her bed for her to snuggle up with. When she gets back, they both fall back asleep for a few more hours.
