Just uploading this for a friend. It's a small video reel of a character I modeled last year in Maya for a Digital Form and Lighting class. It's just a few quick turnarounds of the character model in various stages of development, from basic modelling to UV-texture mapping, to the final texture stage. I'm technically not in the animation major anymore but I'm still pretty damn proud of how this turned out.
The character is Nina Harris from the novel The Reformed Vampire Support Group by Catherine Jinks. Nina is a vampire who was bitten in the 1970s and has effectively been 15 years old for about 3 decades. She is frustrated with her life, saying that being a vampire is like being stuck at home, watching daytime television with the flu for all eternity. But still Nina continues to battle with the nature of her disease, wanting desperately to live life, not just survive and exist. So, with the character model, I tried to make all of these traits apparent in the design.
To my friend, I hope this helps you a bit with your own character model. ^^
