⏏ Movie Night ⏏
How do you feel about the CGI princesses? Like Rapunzel, Elsa, and Anna?
Gabby: Well I adore Anna. She’s probably my favorite princess, so I think of her as amazing. Elsa is okay. She doesn’t deserve all the attention she gets because she’s not the main character. Rapunzel is also okay.
Grace: Rapunzel is cute enough I think but I wish she was a little more interesting. Elsa has interesting arc and conflict but I think as a characters she’s pretty bland. I can’t really think of a way to describe Elsa without mentioning her powers, her looks or by comparing her to her sister. I like Anna though, maybe that’s just because she reminds me of myself.
Jen: Adore Anna, I like that she’s sort of an idiot and inconsiderate because she feels more human. Anna feels like if Rapunzel was actually fleshed out and not an archetype, which is how I feel about the latter. Although I like Rapunzel, she still is like, perfect Disney Princess marketing girl. And Elsa, I’ve said before, just lacks character depth to me.
Jonna: I really like Anna, I think out of the three, she is her own character, as well as stands out. Rapunzel and Elsa were princesses I never really loved. I think Jen explained Rapunzel very well, it's like they tried very hard to make her into this brand new princess, but it just kinda didn't work out. And Elsa, looks amazing, but nothing else stands out about her (IMO). Both kinda fall short in that sense, of trying to be so much, when they deliver very little (again IMO).
When I think of the Disney Princesses, I don't count Rapunzel, Elsa, Anna or Merida just because of the way they were animated. Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna are part of a new, different category, whilst Merida is just another Pixar character in my opinion
