the conference we had in hong kong was very heart-warming, heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, eye-opening but at the same time it was very fun! i met a lot of people from different countries (e.g. malaysia, malawi, hong kong, italy, etc) and became friends with them. ALSO i met a lot of swifties lol. ALSO, guess who was referred to in one of our talks????? hint taylorswift c: lmao the speaker in our poverty simulation (where we would pretend to be informal settlers who makes paper bags from newspaper and sell them) taught us how to compliment the buyers first to sell our bags and told us to address the person as “taylor swift, you’re so beautiful. i love you!” (that’s a great compliment, i must say). he also sang a little “shake it off.. shake it off” while telling us what to do after we wash our hands for our “slum lunch”. i guess he is a fan. anyway, i really learned a lot there. it’s so depressing to know that some of our brothers and sisters are fighting death everyday because of poverty. and when i say poverty, it does not only mean the economic status. there’s more to that. it’s so much deeper.
i hope more people, especially the youth, get to experience that, have awareness, and act accordingly. now, i know what to do and i promise to fulfil it. (ofc i’m not yet telling you my plans yet)
