bonney normally speaks very coarsely- she usually uses omae as her ‘you’ pronoun, which is uncommonly rude and aggressive for women and is normally only used by men. however, when she addresses luffy-as-nika for the first time directly, to say “i’ve been searching for you,” she switches over to anta for ‘you’, which is still informal but far less confrontational.

and then when luffy is just completely not getting it in the next line (“huh? we’ve been together this whole time!”) bonney instantly snaps back to using omae again for her subsequent lines. respect gained -> lost speedrun INSTANT

in chapter 1107 (pages 15-16) when Saturn & the Blackbeard captains discuss Teach being “special” does their wording specifically refer to a genetic lineage or something else? also wondering if there's any additional context around Van Augur's claim that they're after “the world”

yes! saturn expresses surprise that devon would defer to anyone, and devon says in explanation that teach is 特別/tokubetsu (special/extraordinary/exceptional).

saturn's response to that is 血筋もな/chisuji mo na, and chisuji does mean literally 'bloodline'- it can also be translated as like 'lineage/descent'. it is indeed a genetic/biological term (so he doesn't appear to be referring to a metaphorical 'lineage'). you can see the kanji for 'blood', 血/chi, is part of the word. the mo means is like 'as well/in addition.' so saturn's response is like "his bloodline (is special/extraordinary), as well."

there's nothing i can add about van augur's line about the world, though; it's quite literally just the one word, 世界/sekai, 'world.'

I've missed Sanji's snarky battle one-liners, too, but seeing him and Luffy ready to fight together and Sanji just casually lighting a cigarette is so great.

Kizaru, on the other hand, is still making it very hard for me to trust his intentions. I've seen some people say he's been holding back/not really trying but his face when Sanji blocked the laser heading for Bonney is enough proof that it was a killing blow and he didn't expect anyone to stop it.

So until I see otherwise, even if he's feeling conflicted, his actions are the only thing I can judge.

I've been waiting for Sanji to do something like this and I think people have been wanting him to match up against Kizaru since that one opening so this makes me happy.

This I think is mostly here to confirm that Shanks was indeed talking about Blackbeard when he went to see the Gorosei, but there's been hints since the start that his body is abnormal somehow and it seems like we might be a little closer to figuring out why.

I'm also not certain the two are related in any way, but it does make me think about Vegapunk's statement regarding Buccaneers and how there's something that makes them 'remarkable', and between that and Lunarians perhaps there's other almost-extinct races with unique abilities we haven't learned about yet.

I knew Caribou would pop up again before the end of this arc but I can't say I was looking forward to it, and I'm not entirely sure what Blackbeard's ever done to inspire Barto-levels of hero-worship but if it gets them all of out here then sure, I'll go with it.

Once again I'm just...not sure if I should be concerned? Which is the inherent issue with One Piece doing so many death fake-outs, but if we take Shaka's message to Dragon about dying soon as referring not only to him but to Vegapunk's main body as well (which would make more sense, honestly) then at least there's been some build-up here...
