The spine of the book fucked this one up a bit but-
Nami, when she turns back and sees the giant wave while talking to Luffy through the shard of mirror, uses もしもし/moshimoshi, which is a greeting/way of saying ‘hello’ pretty much exclusively used for talking on telephones, specifically as a way of saying you’re there and cueing the other person to talk.
Something about it being used here kinda gets me. It’s a little like she’s saying ‘are you still there?’ just before she apologizes to him for the fact that they’re done for.
Reacting to Luffy talking to Nami through some glass
And he really takes charge of the entire process here because he knows down to the second how long everything is going to take so the pressure isn’t even a factor right now.
I love that he’s completely ignoring her in favor of listing recipe ingredients to the other chefs
After seeing Sanji be so down and doubting himself this entire arc it’s really nice to have him be confident again...he’s always been sure of his own cooking skills but he really gets to show off here and he deserves it.
The cooks at the sweets factory address Sanji very politely, calling him 旦那様/danna-sama, which is a sonkeigo/very honorific way of saying ‘husband.’ They similarly call Pudding 奥様/oku-sama, a likewise respectful way of saying ‘wife’, and Chiffon has to tell them to stop before she dies on the spot.
Nothing more to add from this panel, I just think Sanji’s face when Pudding is telling him everyone thinks they’re married is really funny.
