Likewise whenever people say that Law’s some dark sadistic guy it’s just like...do you read the manga...because this isn’t even the first time he’s said he dislikes violence (not to mention Oda wouldn’t even let him kill the one guy that would have probably been more than justified by the story)

Took me a hot second to notice, but a lot of the impactful/establishing panels in Wano are accompanied by the sound effect べん/ben or べべん/beben (the sound effect for a shamisen, the three-stringed instrument Hiyori plays at the opening of the arc). Whereas in the rest of One Piece such panels would ordinarily be marked with the sound effect ドン/don (or DOOM in English) instead.
It’s not a complete swap over- for example, stuff the Strawhats and Law do is still usually marked with the usual don, as they’re outsiders to Wano- but the ben does show up on all the establishing shots of Wano’s scenery and characters. It kind of gives the impression the instrument is being played through all of this as an accompaniment to the action, which is a real cool framing device.
Luffy’s so happy to see him, though.
...Yeah this makes it more obvious that Luffy using the attack he basically created as a tribute to Ace was meant to be intentional because now he’s repeating Ace’s words without ever knowing about it previously and it’s making me feel things again.
...Anyway whenever people still insist that Law’s a serious character I just have to laugh because he really thought Hawkins (who knows who he is) wouldn’t recognize him because he put a bucket over his head.
Luffy dubs Speed ウマ美/umami, which is a play on uma (‘horse’) and umami which is a flavor. I’ve noticed his names and nicknames for animals (or half animal people in this case) are very often food related, hahaha.
At least Law’s taking the initiative here to move them along but yeah, Zoro, you were kind of part of that entire commotion that caused this in the first place...
