It’s nice that Oda answered this since having it be a deliberate choice on his part to not add any humor after chapters that end on a serious note shows that he does intend for those moments to be taken seriously and have a certain amount of weight, and just...not having an SBS seems like such a simple thing but it ends up having an important meaning to the story itself.

Chopper insisting that they need Law to fight with them is really cute, actually.

And I didn’t mention it before but I actually really like that Luffy spends all the days they were waiting for the raid training, because so often it seems like his first clash against the big bad or the arc goes badly and then somehow he powers up before (or during) the next time he faces them, but here he actually has a chance to actively train and try to master Haki techniques instead of just rushing into face Kaido again.

I do find it interesting that we’ve got Sanji and Nami reacting to this because out of everyone there they’d be the ones most familiar with what Zoro’s capable of, so that even they’re surprised by what happened does say a lot

Yeah, no surprises there. Zoro wouldn’t even want a sword that didn’t present a challenge to him at this point.
