how did they first kiss?
you actually wrote this fic, if you remember, so i always see it happening as an accident. it's one of those 'don't knock it 'til you try it' situations. i definitely think that bester initiates their first kiss, because i feel like he's the first to see/feel potential brewing (also ari is a weenie). he's the first to see that the spark in aridaios and the chemistry when they're together takes his mind off jirou; the first to notice that even when they're fighting, he kind of enjoys the run around. so he corners ari one day and they're bickering and he kisses him out of the blue.
alternative headcanon, aka the romcom version. EVERYONE KNOWS THEY'RE INTO EACH OTHER, but pride stops them from doing anything but fighting. there is so much unresolved sexual tension between them. one day they're hanging out and mari is around and she just gets pukey watching them flirt without flirting, and she punches them both in the arm while screaming "JUST KISS!!!!!!!!" at which point bester and ari share matching looks of breathless disbelief, but ari recovers first because this is his moment!!!! no more hiding!!! it's fucking dO OR DIE and nearly rips bester's shirt pulling him down to the appropriate level and kissing him with all the pent up passion he has. mariette walks away muttering under her breath how big a pair of useless dorks they are lmfao.
who flirts more?
definitely bester, because ari's not very smooth. but bester doesn't flirt all too much either. there was really almost no flirting at all until they get together which i think is definitely backwards lmfao. imagine bester going like 'wow is that ur phone in ur pocket or r u happy 2 c me??'. iT DOESN'T WORK. bester's romance is really more subtle.
how did the relationship start?
after their kiss, there'd probably be an awkward few days with little to no contact between them where they just kind of dumbfoundedly absorb their actions? bester just kind of realizes that this is the first time he's been interested in a real relationship in years. and aridaios is probably freaking out because it's dawning on him that now that he thinks he's got bester where he wants him, he has little to no skill for being in a relationship at all.
the next time they do see each other, ari's first instinct is definitely to crawl into himself rather than face the possibility of a rejection (in the sense that bester would say the kiss was an accident, the kiss wasn't that great, he can't get over jirou, it's just not what he wants, etc). bester dispels all of ari's inner monologue by calmly taking his hand in his, smiling, and going in for a soft kiss.
how did they start living together? do they move? how do they choose the place?
IN CANON, they're an international couple. bester's mainstay is italy and ari's is japan. varia comes to japan often to fuck with the vongola, so bester is usually the one taking time out of business to see his boyfriend. they never really move in together and i think it adds an anxiety into their relationship, whether they realize it or not. being a long distance couple is the fucking worst, but they really make the most out of all their time together.
i think ari is very rarely ever in italy?? bester wants to take him though, and he probably fantasizes about them owning a small house in a small town with lots of cats and other bullshit. LIKE, that seems so out of character for a tough, "hard" guy like bester but it's not and it has to do with a desire to have security with someone who he really loves. the varia mansion is already so amazing, and so many opportunities for friendship and camaraderie have come out of it for him (mainly wrath #wrathappreciationlife), but it's different because it's his duty to be a part of the famiglia, it's not something he chose.
IN WKVERSE, they move in together after graduation (or possibly a few months beforehand). the only reason they waited is because they wanted to be absolutely sure their relationship was in it for the long run. they stay close to their respective friends and family, but they enjoy setting their own pace.
i feel like it took them forever to decide which house they wanted. bester was ready to put the down payment on practically anything on the market (thank u octodad's bank account), but ari kept insisting they shouldn't spend too much on their first apartment, and they generally had conflicting ideas about which features would be most important to them while living together.
do they have roommates?
in wk bester has wrath and ari has azazel but not after they start living together.
do they get married (or equivalent)?
neither of them is the marrying type, so i wouldn't think they'd ever have a traditional marriage. i also don't think either of them needs that title to feel their relationship is validated. after years of being together people probably start to forget they're technically still just boyfriends, because a) they act like they're married and b) it's been so long, why couldn't they be married. but i really don't think they ever plan something huge and invite hundreds of people or whatever. maybe one day i could see them holding a really tiny ceremony of less than ten people where they exchange rings and stuff but?? not more than that.
do they have kids?
the longer the relationship goes on, the more i think they wrestle with the idea. but ultimately, i think they stay childless. bester would definitely have a soft spot for any of his friends' kids, but none for them.
do they have pets?
bester brings his two cats into the relationship lmfao. i can see them adding more pets with time. especially more cats. cats everywhere. CRAZY CAT COUPLE. jk. or am i.
i can see aridaios waking up every morning (first, because bester's a piece of shit who only wakes up after noon if he can help it), with a swarm of fur around his legs and chorus of little meows greeting him good morning as he tries to fix himself breakfast. bester will wake up to see ari at the counter in the kitchen or maybe in the living room with some cats in lap or at his feet or by his arms, and they'll kiss good morning and --

do they act different in public and at home?
they're such bigger dorks at home. THEY REALLY ARE SO DOMESTIC. old-married-couple-style bickering follows them everywhere though. in public i feel like they avoid public displays of affection for the most part, minus hand-holding and the occasional peck on the lips. but at home they lay in bed or on the couch in a tangle of limbs and watch shitty morning tv (bester talks through the whole thing, insulting everyone, and ari hates it so much) and fight about which brand of coffee is better.
big spoon/little spoon?
even though ash stymest is about the same height (or actually i think taller????) than leebo freeman in real life, aridaios's canon height is redonk short inches.
in conclusion if bester was little spoon he'd develop a hump back by 27.
sleeping habits?
they usually go to sleep late. i feel like they're both big night owls. bester is eternally extremely warm, so when they spoon, ari figured out he doesn't need any sheets, because if he uses them, the bed becomes an oven.
bester falls into super deep sleep. he really doesn't move so much when he sleeps (habit leftover from his time in the lab; those beds sucked so much ass, if he found one comfortable position at all he was stock-still all night to keep it).
and ari's sleep is comparatively light and fitful. idk if he still has any night terrors or anything, but he'd be reassured by bester's huge, unmoving presence for sure lmfao.
bester sleeps on the right and ari sleeps on the left. that's because the left is closer to the door, and ari can get up from there without bothering bester so much.
favorite non-sexual activity?
it may just be me, but i think they'd be concert-goers. no terribly specific preference for a genre or artist, though i think the fluctuate between indie and rock concerts. ari probably turned bester onto an artist once and bester liked them so much he offered to take him out to a concert. they enjoyed the event and kept finding new ones to go to.
they get there fairly early to get front row access (or otherwise buy VIP). after the show, they greet the artists and go out for trashy fast food while reliving their favorite parts of the show. they wander around for hours, talking in quiet voices or maybe chasing each other like idiots through alleyways, yelling about god-knows-what. only when the sun comes up do they call it a night and go home.
favorite sexual activity?
as chere noted, everything. ari's favorite is erotic asphyxiation. aka he likes being choked. don't ask me where that comes from. ? we just don't know ? but bester probably likes it most when ari rides him. gets to look up at his favorite person in the world and watch all his most vulnerable faces with the light behind his head like he's an angel come down from the sky. WHAT A FUCKING SAP.
how often do they have sex?
honestly, not as often as some of our other couples would COUGHTEROTHCOUGH. i'd say that not more than once or twice a week. they do a lot more making out and cuddling than anything else. mostly because aridaios is a terrible tease, but also because they don't really seem to be the type of couple to need to screw everyday or anything.
being long distance definitely forces them to curb their appetites, but after "welcome back" sex the night they're reunited, they take a lot more care to show their affection in smaller ways. both of them just appreciate subtle gestures.
OF COURSE, this is not to say neither of them ever crave sex. though, i think bester's sex drive is a lot more active than ari's is, so he craves it more often than aridaios will give it to him, lmfao. but it's cool, he's OKAY without it. all that pent up frustration's good for training.
what habits of the other drives them crazy?
aridaios HATES when bester lets the cats sleep in the bed. they're both long haired cats, so there's always hair and stuff all over his covers and pillowcase. bester never notices because he's had them so long it no longer bothers him.
bester CAN'T STAND when ari says something he doesn't make out the first time, and bester will ask him to say it again, and aridaios won't REPEAT IT OH MY GOD IT DRIVES HIM SO NUTS.

how often do they fight?
they do a lot of meaningless bickering and nitpicking with each other. it's ridiculous but it counts for almost nothing. it's mostly just to push each other's buttons. i said they don't flirt but that's a lie - the little snide remarks are their twisted version of flirting. they're five year olds, is2g
most trivial thing they fight over?
garlic household chores. i'm calling it right now. they fight over who has to do what chores every week. like bester hates doing chores because he feels like it takes up so much time he could be using for other things. also he very rarely had to ever clean up after his own messes, so he's just not used to that kind of manual labor. (just one indication of his being pampered by tons of varia maids growing up, no matter how often they went on strike because wrathster were a troublesome pair of teens). he'd probably throw out the trash and do dishes without much complaint because the house would smell/become infested with pests otherwise. but things like cleaning the bathroom, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc would be like pulling teeth.
who uses all the hot water?
my first instinct is to say bester because he's the one who came from an affluent, pampered home where running out of hot water is not easily achieved... but it could be ari just as well, or even more often. since he's the first one up in the morning, who doesn't love a nice warm wake up shower??? but then it's like oops no more hot water for bester when he wakes up later.
and bester might not even really notice because honestly, his domain is in fire. he could easily raise his own body temperature enough for the cold water to not make much a difference. his body's pretty naturally warm anyway?
ari notices how little having no hot water left bothers bester and just starts to give zero fucks, taking hour long hot showers in the morning or a night or whatever. bester's just like, you're ridiculous, have you seen our water bill this month' and makes him pay 3/4s of it to teach him a lesson. safe to say, in the future there is significantly more hot water for bester to enjoy.
who does most of the cleaning?
they try to keep it fairly even. back to the fighting over chores thing, after all. although, ari most likely ends up doing more things than bester. i can see bester doing a half-assed job because he gets frustrated or bored and ari having to bitterly come and finish up the job. bester's good for a lot of things, but cleaning toilets is not one of them, sorry.
what do they watch on tv and do they fight for the remote?
when they start living together, they don't really get a tv for a few months. a mixture of neither of them being that into tv and not wanting to worry about more bills so soon. but they finally both decide they should at least have one for the living room for those lazy days.
aridaios watches the cooking and traveling channels a lot. bester watches tons of animal planet, discovery channel and history channel. when they're together they watch trashy movies on fx and showtime or something.
but OF CROUSE they fight over the remote, though it probably doesn't happen as much as they might fight over, say, who ate whose food in the fridge that they were saving for the next day. i can see them literally running after each other and grappling for the remote. one of them would succeed, but 10 minutes later, they'd be fighting again.
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working?
this always falls on aridaios because bester doesn't notice how cold it can get in their apartment. while ari's complaining that he can't feel his toes and that his nose won't stop running, bester's chilling out in short sleeves and thin sweatpants. bester will cuddle his boyfriend into his bubble of heat until the problem is remedied but ari'd likely be sour and pouty, lmfao.
who answers the phone?
they're one of those lazy couples, where if the phone isn't literally right there, they probably won't answer it. and if the phone is an about equal distance from the both of them, it becomes a stare down. not that it matters, though, because bester usually can't stand the ringing enough to finish the fight and answers it.
he sucks at answering though. probably just says "what" when he answers it. most people who call them repeatedly would be expecting it and move on from it. there've got to be a bunch of telemarketers and sales people who're like "wow what a rude piece of shit" though, lmfao.
who steals the blankets?
by default, this is aridaios, because bester needs no sheets!!
who remembers things?
i feel like they both remember things, but different kinds of things. bester might remember things that are more sentimental to their relationship such as birthdays, their anniversary, date nights, what aridaios likes to eat, how he best takes his coffee, etc. aridaios would probably remember more of the practical household things like when the bills are due, if they left the stove on, if they're running out of shampoo, etc.
who does the groceries?
they go grocery shopping together!!! well, since they take turns cooking, they go together and restock on their personal favorite items and also pick up anything special they might want to add to a dish. if, for some reason, they can't go together, i think they'd also take turns or split that job fairly evenly.
who cooks normally?
like i mentioned in the last question, they take turns cooking. and i feel like they really enjoy cooking together when they can. they don't always have the time or energy to plan something together but it gives them a wholesome opportunity to work together. very rarely do they actually eat out, i think. when you have two fantastic cooks at your disposal, why do you need to????
who leaves their stuff lying everywhere?
aridaios is definitely the messier of the two but, in general, i feel like they're not such a messy couple? because bester kind of started hating the maids going through his shit when he started high school, so he started keeping better care of his bedroom and picking up after himself so they wouldn't really have a reason to snoop (gossipy bitches smh). and aridaios seems like the type to eventually become annoyed by the mess, so he at least like, stuffs everything that's lying about into one corner until he feels like organizing it lmfao.
what kind of stuff can be found around their place?
i've left this question last and i still have no idea what to put. maybe i can start with what ISN'T in their home. there's no terrible amount (or any, probably) plants. except for cat grass, which aridaios learned was good for kitty digestion (and then subsequently attempted to feed to bester as a joke, who threw a whole pot of the stuff out of their window).
i supposed you'd find a bunch of books, since bester's a bit of a bookworm on his downtime between training and missions and all.
their favorite pictures together, but only a handful; really less than 5 or 6 for the entire apartment.
plenty of kitchen utensils and appliances. maybe a coffee machine (or maybe not, since bester is italian, they might have a coffee kettle instead).
what do their cupboards or shelves look like?
probably neat, ESPECIALLY in the kitchen. their kitchen is the most organized/prettiest room in their entire apartment, because they spend a fair amount of time in there, and timing is pretty important in cooking. spending 10 minutes trying to find a specific utensil while something's cooking on the stove is definitely NOT okay, so they keep everything super well organized to avoid unnecessary mishaps.
what does their closet(s) look like?
bester's is particularly a lot of dark, neutral colors with the oddball bright color here and there. lots of leather jackets and doc martens or vans sneakers or roshe runs (x) and even leather boat shoes. MUSCLE SHIRTS for his muscles and stuff. sweats for when he's at home. he'd have all his swim gear there from when he was on the swim team for steelion. or in canon, it'd be a stash of his own personal weapons (likely birthday gifts from octodad or wrath).
aridaios' style is a little more street. similar dark colors but with plenty of bold blues and reds and the like. plenty of vans sneakers and combat boots. long, dark trench coats for the japanese winters (gotta love the lack of central heating). lots of knick-knacks/unnecessary items, probably, because he wasn't sure where to put them, lmfao.
what do they do when they’re away from each other?
this is a dumb question for bestari because in canon they're already away from each other most of the time. and in wkverse any time they're not spending together they're spending moving their lives along.
do they have nicknames or pet names for each other?
THEY'RE THAT COUPLE... that calls each other terrible things as terms of endearment. flashback to that "attractive nuisance" tshirt, lmfao. bester holds onto the habit of calling aridaios trash when he's angry or bothered. and aridaios still calls bester kitty when he wants to piss him off and push his buttons.
how do they refer to the other in public? how do other people refer to the other? (i.e. “my partner”, “ask your father”, ”dad and papa”, ”how’s your wife?”, etc)
they refer to each other as "my boyfriend" or by name. there's no need for anything else.
who is more likely to pay for dinner?
bester pays for pricey restaurants bc he's most likely the one who picked it out
aridaios pays for casual restaurants (sushi bars, cafes, fast food, etc) because he's most likely the one who pick it out

simply; with family and friends. otherwise, in wkverse they deck out the apartment in lights and garlands with a little tree. and they take turns hiding/moving around a mistletoe for the 12 days leading up to christmas. it's the most disgustingly couple-y tradition that they have, but it's one of their favorites. on new years they kiss at midnight like a bunch of bozos. it's pretty much the only night that bester ever sees aridaios drunk. hooray for free champagne, lmfao.

IS THIS EVEN A QUESTION. bester swears like a goddamn fuckin' sailor. aridaios's cursing is a lot less frequent, but it can be more creative.
what would they do if the other one was hurt?
it depends mostly upon how hurt they are. they're both weapons, and used to the idea that battle comes with risks to the body. if one were hospitalized, the other would definitely stay by their bedside for as long as possible. there'd certainly be less bickering a little more of that gooey shit that normally doesn't go down in their relationship. aka heartfelt descriptions of their love for each other, lots of sweet kisses, letting go of small/bothersome things, etc.
what are little gestures they do for each other?
they're whole relationships is built around small gestures, because, like i mentioned early, they're not a terribly affectionate/forward couple.
in canon, when they're away from each other, they send each other texts throughout the day with small words of encouragement (even if it doesn't sound like it right away). they bring each other their favorite items from abroad (as well as gag gifts). example: aridaios has probably brought bester natto on more than one occasion just to laugh at him when he gets kind of excited and then realizes it's that shitty japanese snack, lmfao.
if bester notices that aridaios hasn't woken up before him, he'll take all of ari's chores for the day and make sure there's food for him when he wakes up.
when bester has a last minute mission to go to, and he can't be around for his favorite show, aridaios will save it for him on the DVR (even if it might mean deleting one of his own shows).

of course. i mean, WE'VE NEVER DISCUSSED THIS? so i don't actually know how aridaios would take his drinks, but for reference, bester takes his coffee black with one sugar. he doesn't drink so much tea so he'll take it practically any way it's given him (though he does prefer there be milk).
do they feel they see each other enough, or do they have activities that take too much of their time?
in canon, they feel like they never see each other enough. so when they find those moments to spend time together they're practically inseparable. lmfao, can you say "do not disturb"?
in wkverse, they fluctuate between "let's spend all day together" and "let's no see each other all day because you're gross and i'm sick of your mug". ok, it's not that bad, but they'd definitely make it a point to spend time away from each other, since they already live in the same house. bester'd go to hang out with wrath or tera or alo and cesare or something while aridaios spent an afternoon with mariette and nabal or whatever. then when they come back home to each other they can appreciate what they have and exchange anecdotes. it's honestly a matter of trying to keep their relationship fresh and not bore each other with the same old, same old.
do they friend/follow each other on facebook/tumblr/livejournal/skype/etc?
bester refused to have anything other than skype for a long time, but i feel like either klyde or jioru (or a tag team of both) got him to make a facebook. he deactivated his facebook after his break up with jirou but reactivated it soon after. in which case yes, bester and ari are friends on both. their relationship status is jokingly kept as "it's complicated" on facebook, but everyone knows they're #married.
they skype consistently in canon, since they can't really go out on dates together. instead they spend outrageous amounts of time talking with each other. they're about 6 hours apart though, so it can be a little bit of a hassle to coordinate time.
